Becoming a dad is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m lucky that, so far, my kids have been pretty easy to parent. This lockdown thing is hard work but me and my boy are having fun hanging out together. He’s just turned 14. I’ve got mates texting saying that being stuck at home with their teenagers is turning into all out war. Many of you won’t be surprised to hear that I was an absolute **** when I was 14. I would’ve hated being in lockdown with the 14 year old me. The 44 year old me is a proper lockdown laugh. Just to be clear, I’m not encouraging topknot to have kids. He’s a wasteoid drug dealer. His no children policy is best for everyone.
I'm a bang average parent if I'm honest. I do my best but in general I'm not great at it and I don't really care. Well I care but not enough to change, they'll be fine.
She deals with the school stuff. I am supportive as I think it’s important but my first priority is that they’re happy. No exam result, award, trophy etc is more important than happiness. You only get one childhood.
Yeah I follow that line in general. It worked really well until my youngest came along, little **** could break the best of us.
Why? I am what I am and selfish enough to not run my life around my kids. I'll look after them and do my best but they are very selfish themselves (I think we all are when we're young). I care about them but don't care if I should be a better parent, this is it and they can live with it.
I'm not saying I'm terrible at it, just not the best dad ever despite the hurriedly bought mugs that state otherwise.
