In depth interview in tonight's paper made interesting reading. CH was talking about his meeting with Derek Llambias:

"What he said was the club wanted to go in a different direction and that was it. He did not explain what the different direction was and I didn't ask. The conversation didn't even last two minutes. Did it come as a shock? Yes, it did."

I thought at the time CH was shafted and the interview gives no indication that that was not the case. Very strange...

I read it!! He still said nothing but good things about NUFC. The man is a legend. Shame it cannot be said for the fat oaf we have as chairman!

Forgive myintrusion but I just read that and have to say, what a nice man he is. Why is that the good guys always seem to get shafted?

It's a shame that some of Hughton's honesty and integrity did not rub off on Ashley and Llambias. I really hope that they guy gets a job at a club where the chairman appreciates him.

i don't think a manager and a chairman + owner have ever been less suited to one another - hughton was and is dignity personified. at least now i can wish him every success he deserves!!

i'm a big bruce fan, but his griping gets to me sometimes and when you look at all the **** hughton had to put up with, and he still won't have a go?? he's an absolute gem, hope he gets the chance to set up a lengthy tenure at a decent side to really prove himself, i really rate the guy.

I'm pretty reserved and sometimes allow the brash, noisy people get away with things, but even I wouldn't have gone without asking Llambias exactly what he meant by the club wanting to move "in a different direction."

I bet he would have been utterly nonplussed. What the hell does he know about football? He's a bloody casino manager. All he's good for is being a hitman for his fat lord and master.

It speaks volumes for Chris though, that the deviousness of Ashley and Llambias didn't rub off on him.
