I have been a member of this site since it pretty much started and although I don't post much I do read a lot. I love the sense of humour of most people on this site and also the knowledgeable football banter. However, some of the posts lately have got me scratching my head. All the negative comments about our start to the season, why we aren't giving Whickam a chance, Bruce being at the scum game, and the most negative I have read lately "we have yet to have our usual mid season slump without the good start to fall back on". Jesus mother and mary, get a grip. We paid good money for an excellent prospect, who may turn out to be fantastic. But he isn't the finished article and as such can't expect to be playing week in week out. I don't give a ****e that Bruce was at the scum game, I take it as a scouting trip on two teams who are competition in our league. The fact that he is spending his time off watching opposition teams I feel is a good thing irrespective of who they are. I agree we haven't had the greatest start to the season, but look at the games and the results with a clear head. We drew at Liverpool and after a fantstic second half I believe we could have walked away with the win. Scum game, we dominated that friggin game and we wouldn't have scored if we played for 3 weeks. Sometimes its the way it goes. Chelsea was a diabolical performance in my opinion and we were totally outclassed. But at the end of the day its just opinions. I believe we are turning a corner and players are beginning to gel and we have a much stronger squad this season. Have hope people, I know being a Sunderland fan isn't the easiest thing in the world, but there's no other team in the ****ing world that comes close to SAFC. Maybe I should stick to reading posts instead of writing them.....................
Just got back from a weeks holiday and this is the first post I've read, see nothings changed then. Good post btw.
Not at all horden, you should post more and not because I agree with you but because we need all views, the more the better. The sad thing for me is that I along with thousands more left the Chelsea game well pissed off. Last weekend I left the Stoke game on an high and I want to keep on a high, the team, any Sunderland team, is more than capable of bringing me down to earth without any help from here. Is it so wrong to want to just enjoy when I can without looking for a slump that may or may not come?
Thanks for the positive comments lads, just feel like having a bit of a rant as I'm sick of all the negativity lately. Roll on Monday, I feel a 3-0 win Bendtner, Larrson and Sess the scorers...............
Syd I agree mate, supporting SAFC can bring with it unbridled frustration sometimes. So why start expecting it, bit self defeating. But there is an unbelieveable joy in following this time at times and I want to look forward with a positive attitude
Bendy looks like one goal away from a regular flow and I think it may well start on Monday, or is that just wishful thinking.
No, you keep posting stuff that agrees with the mainstream and you'll be fine. They prefer the Stepford Wives mentality here and you'll never have a post deleted for towing the party line. You keep saying everything is rosy in the SAFC garden and you will have lots of pats on the back and plaudits. Even when its not don't say anything about it, just keep plugging away with the positive angle. We don't encourage alternative thinking here now. Just conformity.
Cest, it's got nothing to do with everything being rosy or towing a party line. I just want to think positive about my team. There are lots of things I don't agree with about Bruce, from tactics and player selection. But I still support him as he manages my team and I want that team to be successful. If you think that means I'm towing the party line, that's your opinion and you entitled too it.
No one more than me wants that horden. I've waited all my life for someone to light the blue touch paper at SAFC and I wanted it to be Bruce. However its plain as the nose on his face that it won't be him. He is more part of the problem than he is the solution. 2 years in; 5 transfer windows down and we are still scratching about for a regular team, tactics and pattern. Yet just look at what a total no hoper like Pardew has achieved in 10 months, with all the ****e he has had to put up with over there and you see my point. In two derby games he has been in charge of, when all his best players have been sold around him, he has still managed to get his teams fired up and ready and has taken 4 points from 6. Our mag loving manager has bottled all 3 of his. Bruce has the best and most united boardroom, chairman and fans. He has had a lot of money to spend and total freedom to deal yet we are still ****e. If he can't make a good fist out of our current situation, he never will. I mean if the going got tougher he'd crumble quicker than a rich tea biscuit. 2 home wins in 2011 going into last weeks game is rubbish. Then Bruce wins 1 game and he immediately goes on the attack about the criticism (from fans as well), then trots off to enemy HQ to watch his boyhood club. Staggering is not a strong enough emotion for me. Positive? I so desperately want to be positive about our great club but with Bruce as manager it will never happen imo. Me suddenly towing the party line and pretending all is well won't make it so.
Cest, I understand where your coming from I truly do. I have my own frustrations, several transfer windows and we haven't addressed the left sided problems we have. My frustration with Bruce's tactics and player selection (last week was a breath of fresh air). Like you I don't believe he is the answer to our prayers. But while he is our manager I will show him my support, much like I do with all our players. I just don't see an option out there right now to replace him with. In my time supporting this club we have had some absolutely shocking managers and I won't type names as I don't want to make grown men cry, lol. But seriously, I would love for us to have an accomplished tactician with a proven record at a high level come in and utilise what I believe right now to be a very capable squad. I do believe that with our current squad despite Bruce's best attempts to screw it up, we will finish the season around 10th again. We will get stronger as the season progresses, and we have more strength in depth this season apart from up front.
What about David Moyes? I would imagine he would have universal appeal? I agree about supporting him as manager and at games we do. I do. On these forums though I don't have to. Imo, I think he is a hapless arsehole who has spurned the great opportunity afforded him these part 2 years. We could have and should have become much more had we been blessed with a manager capable of handling the situation. Yes we have had some shocking managers over the decades and we have probably watched them all together at some point but Bruce falls into the worse category not the durban, smith or Reid one for me. Given Bruces money and settled club, I feel a better man could have achieved so much more mate.
I think Moyes would be an excellent choice and in the current climate at EFC I would guess his head could be turned. I agree with the amount of money been made available at Sunderland and the very settled boardroom and ownership, more should have been acheived than has been the case. My old man would love to see MON come here and manage, but I'm not convinced. Just want us to get another win tomorrow and make it convincing. Kind of a double edged sword, we want our team to win and if they do and turn in some good results then Quinn will not get rid of Bruce. Damned if you do or damned if you don't
Yes its like trying to get rid of a girlfriend that you no longer love or care for but just as you are about to say thats it pet its over, she strips off to reveal a new basque and suspenders and then offers you the dirtiest sex you fancy? You know you will regret it the next day but will always be tempted to say well go on then on more time? Lol Oh bloody hell, Bruce in a basque and sussies? Thats the bacon and eggs thrown up this morning. Lol We all wantbetter but we have and are stuck with Bruce. If he gets the sack its because we are struggling. We dont want that. If he wins we are forced to soldier on with the b&w sympathising bugger a little longer? Dilemas, dilemas eh? MoN would be a superb manager for me too tell your dad and at least he wouldnt swan off to watch the filth at his first opportunity.
Great Cest! I'm just about to go to bed and you put that vision in my head. Barsteward.............. God I just got cold chills reading that last comment, lol
Cestria repeat after me - DILEMNA _ I wish some of the posters on here would take some basic English lessons. Webmaster- is it possible to put a spell check on here. I blame the teachers, they can't spell either, so what chance have the kids got.
By the way, you should have used a '?' after those sentences, as you were asking a question and posing a question on both. Who is the smart ****er now?
