UK deaths could be anywhere between 7k to just over 20k according to a Professor talking to Marr. Scariest thing there for me is how big that gap is ... they just don't really know, do they?

The "it's just a bit of flu" spanners seem to have backed off a bit.

I’m just doing some number crunching for an update COVID-19 company meeting tomorrow. The manufacturing facility where my office is based, spent £126k in the last 10 days on measures to protect its employees and keep the plant operational as it’s considered a key industry.
I’m guessing that once I’ve gone through the numbers for the other UK sites, it’s likely to be up to around £500 - 750k.

I've got a site manager and a sub agent under me, I don't really trust either to get a project over the line.

The other has an agent and proper general foreman, I'm less worried about that one, they'll be fine.

Thing is, as you no doubt know, if I take furlough I can't work.

Simple as that, phone and laptop off.

'Work from home' though, I can of course.

Yes. I’m guessing your site is generating a day rate? In which case your companies income (from that site) is unaffected by the current crisis, so if you take the medical advice and stay at home, you can surely just keep the laptop and phone on and get paid?

HMRC won’t have any way of knowing who’s been working from home and who’s been genuinely on ‘leave of absence’ btw. They’ll just pay out, after a possible cursory check on whether the claim amount for the employee doesn’t exceed the 19/20 average monthly wage.

My understanding is that currently you don't need to pass on details of the induviduals furloughed, just the number and an assurance that they meet the relevant criteria. However, HMRC's internal guidance is changing constantly and we have weekly update calls with our CCM.

Good chance to wum the upper floors of my block from the garden.

Saying that, there are communal outdoor spaces within the complex. Wonder where that would fall within the making it up as we go along rules.

Primarily because some tits have been ducking under cordon taping and continuing to use outdoor gym equipment ... don't think they will ban jogging or walking... and councils have started dismantling the outdoor gyms in some areas ...

Yes, That was their initial position, with the caveat that they can audit any aspect of the claim retrospectively.
I suspect that the claims process might become more detailed if the period extends.

Yup, just seen that on the news. I'm not surprised, it was clear to me yesterday even though the vast majority of people are following the government instruction, there are still some that are not. It makes you feel like asking, what fooking part of stay at home, do you not understand!

They have created a specialist unit to field queries ... I raised one last week in regard to impact on the Apprenticeship Levy.

It's not the sort of stuff they will have in stock and they have already checked with specialist suppliers.just got to hope my old backup ( different manufacturer) is available.
