I had forgotten about that. Doubt that'll be used to make any sort of announcement though. Expect it to just be about getting through tough times and encouraging people to stay in etc.

Just over a week away from the first 3 week review. Reckon restrictions will be tightened before being loosened.

We are lucky to be in Dorch. Using small local shops who are all enabling social distancing. Everyone being pretty sensible. Getting exercise walking out the door to the nearby footpaths which aren’t too busy and everyone giving each other space. Quiet once you’re away from paths next to town

Unbelievable. Same kind of thing as Wembley Stadium charging top whack for the Live Aid concert in 1985. The government should just take it into public ownership.

 

Matt Hancock said he is “sympathetic” to calls for nurses to receive a pay rise.

The starting salary for a nurse is £24,214, according to Unison, and the more than 300,000 nurses have suffered real terms pay cuts due to government-imposed wage restraints over the past decade.

Asked if nurses deserved a pay rise, Hancock told Andrew Marr:

“Everybody wants to support our nurses right now and I’m sure there will be a time to debate things like that."

"At the moment the thing that we’re working on is how to get through this. So I’m very sympathetic to that argument but now is not the moment to enter into a pay negotiation, now is the moment for everybody to be doing their very best.”

Here’s what you should do Mr Hancock -

Pay all nurses a basic of £30,000 immediately and leave further negotiations until this crisis is all over.
