I deleted Cests post on Bruce going to the Newcastle game, I still donât know if I did right. I do however feel I should explain why and say loud and clear it had nothing to do with Cests OP. I was up early today and read the posts after I left yesterday, fans insulting fans and chunkies anger management made me uneasy so I left a comment. I then looked again because I was concerned the anger and tone of the posts may continue into today so I closed it. It still felt wrong because the comments were still there so I deleted it, rightly or wrongly. We rarely delete posts on this board and I donât like doing it but sometimes it just seems the right thing to do. I donât agree with Cest on many things but would no more wish him any harm than I would wish my grandson harm and I know he would agree. When all is said and done this is just a football forum, we all want what we feel is best for our club but when we start insulting and threatening its gone to far. Anyway, just wanted to explain.
My post was a very genuine concern about a manager I have little affection for or faith in and I have no problems being a lone voice. I put my case as succinctly and reasoned as I could and still feel his choice of game to watch betrays his true inner loyalties, which is an insult to every sunderland fan. Deleting my post will not and doesn't change my feeling on that matter. He is and remains a mag first in my eyes. I do think some of the comments, not about the post, were very disturbing but then that should have been dealt with individually and not by banning a hijacked post in its entirety. I'm not offended or that bothered you deleted it but just as a last thought, I wonder if my post had been a happy clapped one, it would have been deleted, or more likely, the individual posts would have been dealt with. I have my thoughts on that one too.
Call it a sixth sense if you want, but I somehow get the feeling that Cestria doesn't care too much for Steve Bruce...
Mr RAW - hope you enjoyed your holiday mate. Sorry you missed a great win last week,it was so enjoyable at the SOL for a change But we need to win tomorrow to start our season.
Cest you have a fair point regads your article, but i think Syd was right to delete. The comments by Chunky were disgusting and he should be ashamed IMO
Raw - no other SAFC manager in the last 60 years has had a better chance to succeed than Bruce. Everything is perfect. Settled boardroom, top chairman who fights his corner, owner willing to invest, money to spend, stadium, fans, complete control, I mean everything is perfect. However, here we are 2 years down the line, 5 transfer windows later and we are no closer to finding a settled team or tactical plan. We can't even be sure he will leave a winning team alone tomorrow can we? The players look as confused as we are regarding tactics and team selection and the likes of Cana, Bent and Gyan have seen it too imo. Look up the road at what a total no hoper like Pardew has achieved with all the crap he has had to put up with in his 10 months and my point is made. In his 2 derby games he has got his troops organised and up for it and has a win and a draw. In 3 sorry attempts our hapless leader has bottled all 3. Despite all predictions otherwise they are unbeaten in 7 games, into the final stages of a cup and sit in the top 4. I don't see a solution when I look at Bruce. I see the problem.
Cheers mate...That was a great rusult that I missed, but as you say, one swallow doesn't make a summer, so it would be great if we could follow it up with a win tomorrow... PS...It sounds like I missed something regarding Chunky, but on the whole he seems like a decent lad, and I would imagine that any really bad comments will have been made after a few too many drinks...
55. I don't disagree about some comments that were made by some quarters but suggest that they should be dealt with individually not as a whole. That said, my points were all football related and nothing more.
I am truly sorry you feel that Cest and can assure you that I dont decide on who writes the post or if, in your words, its a happy clapper post, you give me little credit and that does sadden me. I posted this and thought I had made it clear that I am still unsure if I had acted correctly, I did however act in good faith. Chunkies comments, IMO, were out of order but, and again I explained it, it was the general direction the thread was going that concerned me. Finaly Cest I can only explain, you must decide for yourself if I am telling the truth. Thats my explination done so I hope we can move on.
Don't think it was one of Bruces best ideas to go to the barcodes game Cest, maybe he thought after beating Stoke he could get away with it. I'd like to think he was there to look at players if not, then surely Quinn and Short will be having a chat. Quite a bit OTT yesterday by all concerned maybe syd deleting it was probably for the best.
Syd despite my digs at you yesterday, I do think you act in the best interest of this forum and the genuine posters on here. I'm not a kid that needs a cuddle to explain mate and if that was your decision (and to be fair to you, some of the comments on my post became very disturbing yesterday) then thats fine. We move on and into the coming game tomorrow with spleins vented. Lo Talc - it was a massive faux pas on Bruce's behalf to go to barcodeville to watch a game, given his barcode allegiances and I'm sure on reflection he will see that now, even if some of my fellow fans dont. Scouting? Not a hope in hells chance he was doing that but for the sake of peace and tranquility lets pretend thats what he was doing eh? I think the problem I see in Bruce will rear its ugly head again in March anyway and by then maybe more of you will see his b&w roots coming to the fore more often. Until then (if he lasts that long that is) we shall look ahead to games again.
Well I missed a good old dong dong by the sounds of it?? Did SB have a black and white scarf on or something??
I really cant understand how everything is sooooo negative even after a fantastic 4 nill victory over a team we all agree are now in and around our mini=league. I understand the fustration and anger over team selection and results over the last year i really do, i really really do The big BUT however is just the complete negative way Bruce is viewed like some evil Newcastle supporting mastermind, this aint Austin Powers lads come on, suggestions that our manager loses on purpose and laughs at us behind our backs is just silly and comes across as childish. I really dont care if he is a Newcastle season ticket holder as long as he makes us into a top half prem team, we as fans deserve it, as our chairman deserves it, as our owner deserves it. Yes a lot of results have been bad, but we are playing in a monopoly money league with every team grasping every point they can. I look at our squad now and i ask, 'is it stronger now than before Bruce?', and the answer is a massive YES. I find it really hard to swallow that if some fans dont want Bruce out that they are some sort of bleeting sleep brigade, of BIBs, or KGB or some other total rubbish. I am a Sunderland fan and supporter and im proud to be that. I dont agree with everything Bruce has done but being a manager of people myself i can understand just how hard that can be, and thats before you add mental amounts of pressure, money and agents. Can we all just be a little more patient with each other as we all want whats best for Sunderland, all that differs is how we see that happening, and ill be the first to admit it, i aint right all the time........wow cant believe i can admit that!!!! Now come on Bruce, Quinn, the team, the fans, lets get something down Norwich and hopefully we may get some positive things on here!!!!
As I said on a previous thread, I am gutted !!! one of the most entertaining threads I ve read in ages.Yep sure some of the comments got a little out of handbut so what, its healthy to vent ones anger and frustration sometimes.I was actually on night shift last night when I composed my 'tuppence worth' and unfortunatly had to bomb out the offence, with the thread having now been deleted never got the chance to post which is a shame. Thought Cest and Chunky were brill last night..you cudnt buy entertainment like that...by the way my personal view..Mr Bruce well out of order, very insensitive, ill judged and possibly even provocative by going to that game..just my opinion though lads !
I think its the BiB's that continually snipe at those like myself who dont want him as manager that gets my goat up and the continual accusation that to be a Bruce out person is somehow making me a traitor and not a good Sunderland fan. That really boils my piss if I am being honest. You say you dont care if Bruce is a mag season ticket holder so long as he is making us a top half EPL team? Well I'm sorry pal but I am 100% opposed to this view altogether. On one count as I just dont want a mag sympathiser running my club and on a second count that we scraped 10th thanks to the mags capitulation not our own efforts and we have 3 wins in 12 games to thank Mr Wonderful for at home this year (including a humiliating 3rd round cup exit to a 3rd division team) so he has failed on that stance as well. Bruce isn't and never will be now the man for me and I believe that his record will be his downfall in the the end. Hopefully, that is very soon so that we can move on and get a manager that puts us first before our local rivals. All I see is a mag taking the piss out of us when I look at Bruce. If others like that and dont care then fine. If he wins 9 or 10 out of the next 20 games or so and maybe has 3 or 4 draws which takes us to the top half of the league comfortably then I'll happily look pretty isolated but I am very comfortable (and saddened) that he cant achieve that imo, as he hasn't got what it takes to do so. All I see is a manager out of his depth and flapping about for a team formation and tactics, after 2 years and 5 transfer windows. Its embarrassing. Look at what Pardew has achieved in less than half the time, with none of the money, a fat ****er for a chairman and being constantly undermined with his best players being sold at every turn? They are unbeaten in 7, are 4th in the league, have won the first derby of the season away (after almost doing the same earlier this year) and are into the next round of the cup. Bruce should hang his black and white head in shame. So will I be accepting an openly supportive mag as manager, thats something I'm afraid we will never agree on. Nothing good will come of it imo.
The highlighted in spades!!!! It pissed me off when they made us into a brigade, and not genuine SAFC supporters with valid concerns. The small minority of pro Bruce are the ones handing out the venom toward fellow Mackem's. Their posts are deliberately pointed attacks against anyone who doesn't agree with them. Having supported the lads for 50 years, it angers and saddens me when I get accused of being a bad supporter because I expect more from SAFC. Roll out the we finished 10th what more do you expect, comments! I expected to be a comfortable top half team with the investment made over the last few years. Not scraping 10th by results going for us elsewhere. (If Newcastle had won their last game they would have been 8th!!!)
I don't have a problem with Bruce viewing a match at Sid James's... Maybe he was keeping an eye on Samba? Hopefully not if the mags can put three passed him........... More likely he was watching a 'local' match between two premier teams - nowt wrong with that. Remember, the Sunderland party have to travel to Norwich for tomorrow's game. It wouldn't be practical for Brucie to be making a 300 mile trip to watch a game elsewhere on a saturday............ I have a lot of time for Cest and his passion, but his current stance (in my opinion, and I'm allowed one) I feel is flawed......... And I know too that he won't care less what my opinion is - that is his perogative... but all this angst, it's a shame. Last season was our third highest placing for years and years and years..... Some of us are very hard to please........
