Now Thats What I Call Morris Dancing Vol. 1

In response to the earlier thread " morris dancing " I did some research into this popular english pastime. It was interesting to find out what the sticks , handkerchiefs etc were all about ( check that thread if you want to know ).

However, the most intriguing aspect of this little piece of musical archaeology was to be found in the song titles .
Many of these date from the early 15th century and remain an integral part of both morris dancing and english culture to this day.

in the post I mentioned a few that I had found , such as

" Ramming In The Springtime "

" My Maid Is A Peachy - Buttocked Lad "

" Choke The Bishop "
and
" Felch Me Through The Undergarments "

My research did uncover a few more english folk dancing gems though , such as

" A Tea-Baggers Lament "

" Toss Me Off Sweet Harold "

" Thrice Around The Buggering -Tree "
and

" A Stout Cock-Ring For My Love "


For those of you interested in early english musical tradition I urge you to track some of these down. Any other suggestions for those of us with a musical bent ?
