I’m currently delivering for a Pharmacy, the pharmacist themselves are having fresh supplies of Oranges and Pineapples constantly brought in and telling staff to flood themselves with vitamin C to boost their immune system. These fruits because they can be peeled so it doesn’t matter who’s handled.

Presume mandarins would be same. I’d have no problem eating those by the bucketload

What is everyone doing that’s different since the lockdown?

in my case it’s probably less of a change than for some of you, but it still feels weird.

- not listening to the news as much as it just repeats the same stuff all day long
- daily walks and using some weights I bought off Amazon instead of going to the gym
- missing football and can’t find much to say about it
- trying to buy all sorts of stuff online especially for my daughter who is expecting baby

I’m delivering for a pharmacy three days a week so those three days are very busy and like normal working days albeit far less traffic. I didn’t realise how much I’d miss all sport, normal TV is utter trash so I’ve been watching Netflix.

Missing seeing the 8 month old grandson, he literally lives a 5 minute walk away and as the stepdaughter is on maternity so I’ve got used to seeing him at least 5 times a week.

We also own a hair salon which the wife worked in and ran so it’s been a bit of a stress organising the finances for it. I’m on a couple of local business chat groups and everyone is in the same boat. Council here is absolutely garbage, no updates, no assistance, not yet paid out any grants. Banks are NOT paying the interruption loans out, a few local businesses they’ve (Barclays) offered a loan with a 30% interest rate.

Week one I feel people round here used it as a holiday jolly, week two and a few are getting concerned about jobs. My mate picked up a job delivering for Wickes, he is out 10 hours a day in a van. It’s supposed to be delivering essentials but he said he spends the entire day delivering fence panels, paint, garden materials and general DIY bits.

At first I thought it was ludicrous how the government allowed DIY and hardware stores to remain open but I think it’s part of the persuading people to stay at home and keeping the minds active by allowing them to work around their own home.

I’ve noticed more and more people queuing to get into the local Wilko and B&M type stores for non food items so it’s probably a double edged sword allowing them to remain open

Any chance you could post me a few shrubs from a woodies. I’ve just finished building a second shrubbery but ran out of stuff to plant in it. Our local village have just finished a lovely area in our local park. I even considered slipping out during the night and nicking a few of theirs. So looks like I may become a criminal during this. My mindset is already changing

Plant growers to throw away millions of plants destined for garden centres as garden centres close. Wonder why DIY can stay open if they are selling non essentials?

Probably because they sell plumbing and electrical parts etc. Stuff people need to repair with. My local B&M is open and they sell food. Toy section is taped off but booze and all is wide open.
