It is all stage managed as we know, D notices slapped on all media etc etc. BBC sadly are having to completely toe the line. Good to see Robert Peston asking more challenging questions.

It might help if the journalists got their act together, and when a Minister talked about something else rather than answer the question asked, the next one to ask a question requested that the Minister actually respond. Instead they ask about something else and the moment is lost. I have wondered on a few occasions if the questions have been approved beforehand. To see a Minister looking down at his notes does raise that suspicion.

Maybe the BBC has broken free. Norman Smith has just laid out on the news the complete failure of the government strategy on testing. It is developing into a major political storm.

At the daily No 10 briefing of lobby journalists, Downing Street said just 2,000 frontline NHS England staff have been tested for coronavirus.

Around 1.2 million people work for NHS England in total. One in four frontline staff are estimated to be isolating.

Truly awful. With nearly 93% of those in England, it makes a mockery of the old adage about safety in numbers. :(

I'm glad to report that I heard from my son in Spain this morning, where the death toll increased by 834 on yesterday's figure - he's ok after a month of self-isolation.

The earliest is likely to be 2030 but that is not a given.

Oh my life. Another disaster of a press conference for the government. Not a clue what they are doing. No plans, just wishful thinking. When will testing be available on a large scale? Sometime in the future. When will ventilators be available in the numbers that you said were needed? There maybe some that will be available shortly. Is it fair to ask the front line staff to work without the proper protective clothing? The front line staff are vital, and we thank them for what they are doing.
OFH when will you get another acre of ground turned over with a spoon and fork? It is my intention and it is coming on well.
What a bunch of talentless tossers who were voted in to run the country. Any one in a junior school would at least try to solve the problem. Disgraceful.

They might be talentless tossers but they are clearly our best option. These people have years of experience of government, imagine how bad the official opposition would be?

You can only hold to account the people who are supposed to be sorting these problems out, and I am glad that you agree that they are talentless tossers. Oh and by the way most of them in the cabinet do not have years of experience.

I did not agree, I said they might be. The present government is by far the best option, they will be here for years. I'm sure people in France and other countries with shortages are also moaning about their governments lack of ability.

I can only speak about France, but to a large extent there is an honesty coming from the government about what they are doing, no matter how painful, and people have responded well. When you see Tory lover Nick Ferrari on LBC telling a government Minister that they are stepping over the line of belief, then you know how bad it has got for the government.

You have an agenda, it wouldn't matter how competent the UK government performed you would still look for problem.

As far as your adopted country is concerned, it is see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Yes I do have an agenda SH. It is to try and safeguard my family who still live in the UK. I reported how one of my daughters had lost a dear friend, and you dismissed it as my bias against the government. No actual thought on your part that this is causing grief up and down the country to many families.
    I don't know what you read, but judging by your previous comments it is only right leaning papers. Today we have seen the Daily Mail that you have often quoted come out and slam the government. Go to non-political journals and you will find that all advice from this bunch of misfits has been wrong. An example;

"Ministers have been flailing. What has emerged is a picture of confusion and uncertainty at the top, with ministers making promises they cannot keep and apparently with little comprehension of the global tussle for tests that may make it impossible for the UK to buy its way belatedly out of the problem.
The UK is now competing with every other nation to obtain the kits it needs, particularly the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which tells someone whether they have Covid-19 or not."

You should be worried that others see little comprehension in ministers, but knowing the way you think, the fact that it may not be possible to buy what is needed could cause you some discomfort.

The failure of this government, the ministers and even the PM have been noticed around the world. Look around and you will find that even the USA knows how badly wrong you have got it, and actually feels sorry for you. You have hung all your hopes on a man who is not fit to even be a second rate journalist, and now the whole country will pay a very heavy price for it.
