CNN Live - Birx just said how America is so much better in terms of ventilators than the UK. Donald just up on the podium saying how the UK did nothing for ages and did an about face. I think he just called Boris, President Boris!! I have to say that VP Pence is so much more Presidential-like than Trump in his capacity to communicate and to do so in measured tones. Donald back up saying everyone is doing a great job & how he just had a great talk with Putin and with the Crown Prince of Saudi(his vocabulary stops there). Christ, Trump is talking as if he understood drugs, antibiotics, and immunology - no need for the medics at his side to explain anything...Donald will do all the explaining.

Unfortunately I don't think this would shame them, nor embarrass them, just make them have more hatred towards general society and to double their efforts to punish it/us for their own life situation and insecurities.

Having done some mentoring for youths who behave like this, if you really want to change them, you're better off showing an interest in their life and taking them fishing/to a restaurant/day trip etc. and showing them that society has more to offer them and that they can contribute, rather than be on a downward cycle with their immediate peer group. Initial reaction is to punish, but sadly, it rarely helps long term. Just my personal experience of this speaking here.
Absolutely, they may have gone their whole lives without anyone taking an interest in them as an individual. Why would their behaviour suddenly reflect any reason to give a **** about someone else, if they've never themselves experienced love unconditionally?

I don’t know. Patients get moved round a lot. I live in Leicestershire, the numbers in the county are higher than the city but I know patients are in the city hospitals. They are also getting patients from Derbyshire and Warwickshire too in Leicester horsepiddles. Maybe they report where the person is from as the location?
Ok, what's a horsepiddle? Is this specific to Leicester?
Asking for someone else...

I have never heard anyone give out praise like Trump does which sounds totally insincere.

The lockdown has been a disaster. Italy has been in lockdown for nearly a month and deaths are still occurring. The economy has been set back decades and the impact has been huge. The world has been forced by social media into an unproven action that will burden everyone for a decade. The answer should have been to divert resources to the vulnerable and elderly, whilst the rest of society took the hit and carried on as normal. The levels of death are far lower than expected, akin to a bad seasonal flu and far lower than previous pandemics such as swine and bird flu. Flu viruses generally mutate, so once this period is over and the virus mutates, do we continually go back in lockdown for it?

A pandemic has become a panic and conformity enforced. What's the point of arrested couples walking their dog together in the peak district when still hundreds of planes are landing with passengers untested everyday. The situation has become ridiculous.

Theres a tweet video of Trump, stumbling, bumbling his way through a national address suggesting they have it under control, talking about self swabs, (he actually repeats and repeats this)... the USA death toll has now surpassed that of China, if you believe the statistics..

China’s death toll and infection figures are as accurate as Ehabs KC attendance figures.

I read somewhere that a crematorium worker in China estimated the death toll was at least 10x greater than the declared figures based on the period of time all the crematoriums in that region were at full capacity.

I always thought Amazon was a jungle.

Impressive time lapse video of the ‘Nightingale’ Hospital at ExCel.

It has impressed me massively how different industries have pulled together in using their expertise to manufacture ventilators/PPE etc etc

We are as a nation incredibly adaptable and it does make me very proud.

An enormous amount of respect for our engineers, manufacturers and all key workers that are stepping outside of their comfort zone.

We are currently involved in 3 others being built, the speed at which it's happening is impressive.

No real facts here though, while it may of course be true. However, it doesn't surprise me that western governments, and news organisations supported by those governments, would like to switch the focus to China and divert it away from their own initially cack-handed, sluggish and under-funded efforts. Together with claims of 'herd immunity' based on no scientific research, supported by government advisers who felt -- according to the Sunday Times, since denied but I've seen no mention of a libel case -- that 'if that means some pensioners die, too bad'.

How many working age males will die as a result of an economic depression through suicide, mental illness, drug addiction and lack of care?

The figures are debatable of course, but the vast majority of deaths (90+%?) have had underlying illnesses, so really these pensioners have died 'with coronavirus' as opposed to 'of coronavirus'.

Add into this the reduction of our rights and freedom and increase in government regulation and control.. I think a number is being pulled on us.
