It depends on what kind of Music you're listening to. I'd say **** like JLS, Ed Sheeran or whatever he's called is just the Air Vibrating in a rather high pitch, annoying way.
Why do we attribute meaning to things? Why isn't music just a random series of audible vibrations of the air? Surely it suggests that meaning has a purpose?
The question is - if sound is simply the air vibrating, then why is music more than that? It's not 'music has a purpose' It's the act of giving meaning to something that suggests that meaning itself has a purpose.
To teach us I guess? Most times we do not attach meaning to things consciously at least, it usually comes to us. I think meaning adds something to the world around us as well as ourselves.
Music is heaven. I just cannot imagine a world without music and to be honest I wouldn't want to live in a world without music.
