I've always maintained that situations like the one we're in do not bring out the worst in us.... They show us up for who we really are.
It seems that Johnson will come out of isolation after 7 days, despite the WHO saying that he could carry on infecting others for another week. What is it about this exceptionalism that seems to be in the mindset of so many Brits? Any government of whatever hue is liable to scrutiny, as is the PM. While the media and individuals ask questions which are uncomfortable, it is very sad to see people like SH saying that they should not be held to account. To try and make out that no one should ask and get a honest answer is not what we as individuals should expect. It is so obvious to anyone how the government is trying to divert attention from it's failures, but as in the interview with Helen Whately it simply brings more ridicule on them.
Good grief - a personal friend of BoJo and Gove advocates that spending money on one of the core Tory demographics is a waste and should stop.
See what has happened here ? Hugh Pym asks a simple question of why not enough testing for nhs staff and he gets a long winded reply from Health chief about why testing is important. Which ends with the words “ramp up” . Hugh knows all this. We all know all this. Emily Maitlis From a SE Trust here, Emily, OMG we were told yesterday to not speak out on Social Media, but sod that. Lies lies lies again from deputy CMO. They have sold us out on the frontline. Still struggling with PPE, I saw devastating sights today. Zero testing. We are all sick of this. This is why I suggest that people listen to exactly what they say in the daily reports. Ramp up, ramping up is the new buzz word. Health minister, Business minister, Gove and now Stephen Powis, medical director of NHS England are all using it. Sounds good until you ask in what way.
Public Health England say that if you feel better after seven days of self-isolating"you can return to your normal routine".
What a stupid comment - it has nothing to do with whether you 'feel better' but whether you are still infectious or not. You stay in isolation here until you get a test which turns out negative.
But you have been continuing to be a twat. Please allow us 7 days before you “return to your normal routine”.
So on balance would you take the advice of the WHO that most countries seem to be following, or Public Health England which seems to be alone? Has England got a different virus perhaps.
Youngest victim aged 13 sadly https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52114476 No confirmation if they had underlying problems or not.
Online supermarket Ocado has bought 100,000 coronavirus test kits for its delivery staff. Harrow West MP, Gareth Thomas, has called on the government to explain why front line medics are still awaiting tests.
The advice from the WHO and Public Health England is exactly the same. If you live alone, you should self isolate for 7 days, if you live with others, the whole household should isolate for 14 days. He has been living alone, so the advice and his actions were in accordance with WHO advice.
WHO recommends that contacts of patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 be quarantined for 14 days from the last time they were exposed to the patient. For the purpose of implementing quarantine, a contact is a person who is involved in any of the following from 2 days before and 14 days after. (Lots of details follow.) WHO official advice taken from their own publication. Therefore he was in contact with someone who had it and passed it on. It is quite likely he has spread it, therefore those in contact with him who feel unwell should isolate for 14 days.
Once again Gove gets caught out and tries to lie his way out of it. He was asked why there were not enough testing kits, and stated it was due to a shortage of chemical reagent. This clearly raised some eyebrows and people started to check if it was true. Loads of inquiries were made, and there is no shortage. Is he so thick that he thinks that people will not check on what he says. After all he has form. Today, our chemical companies offered to make whatever the government needed. The government said no and then said there was a global shortage of chemical reagent. These are often the same chemical companies which are producing chemicals for the tests in Germany, where there are many more tests. The companies say there is no shortage and have spare production capacity. So why say there is a shortage of reagent? This makes no sense. So just what the hell is going on?
They just know that they can lie as much as they want, most comics and other right wing papers will never bring it up. It's disgusting, the only reason that I can I think they're doing it is to save money. Just let the virus run its course, save a bit on pensions and not waste it on tests whilst it's still active and spreading.
