Okay, let's just get some perspective... The players are happy. We are happy. We are top of the league. All of our plans are coming together very nicely. It doesn't take a Beddy to realise that Cortese =/= scum
So Pardew was sacked because he wasn't a yes man, which means he had different views from the Chairman. Parting of the ways is quite common if you don't do what your boss wants. Pardew has been pretty quiet which probably means his contract was paid up...we should be so lucky if we lost our jobs. The team and manager are very happy..would they be happy if there was any bad feelings at SMS. Matt loves this club but nearly led us to disaster..he was attracted by the idea of being Chairman. Who would you rather have as Chairman?
Twitter will lead some people into trouble one day. People have already ended up sacked by commenting on Twitter and Facebook and thinking they are invincible.
I'm sure he's a better friend than an enemy, but he wants the same thing as we do..success for Saints.
Read with interest the comments made by one and all. Thought about what has been said and written. One message for NC and one for the real fans: To NC - think twice before talking to the press again, in fact; this a hundred times! To the fans - back NC wholeheartedly; we owe a debt to 'Le God' and 'The Mac' for their contributions in the past, but this is the present and the debt we owe NC is more important for that reason.
We were happy a few hours ago and we are still top of the League. I've had enough of this...goodnight.
I don't think The Don means to slight anyone. But if people can afford something then they most certainly should pay. I'm second to nobody in my love of both Matty and Lawrie, and their service to the club. But I pay when I can go, and I can barely afford to, and so do many long suffering Saints fans. Lawrie and Matty are now fans themselves and can contribute side by side with us. I like Jeff Stelling, and his passion for the game, and he's totally entitled to his opinion, but I disagree with him. Sadly, I won't get the opportunity to rant and be applauded for it, by 3 hangers-on, like him. What he doesn't realise is that we're on a bus that's left him behind.
Matt and his son have both denied asking for free tickets tonight and I'll believe them over Cortese. I don't like the way he's coming across right now. Fully behind him and the team but the way he's treated Le Tiss isn't good. Deserves a free ticket for the amount of times he saved our arse.
But is there any proof of ticket refusal? And is there any proof of him wanting free tickets? None. It's one mans word against another, and they cancel eachother out, I'd rather they stopped going public all the time. Le Tissier was a great player, but he is not a businessman or someone who knows what goes into the running of a football club, that is Cortese's area. They should stick to each area and get over it.
The owner, and the Chairman set the the standard, and they pay/paid for their own tickets. They set the standard for the way forward - NO FREE RIDES. its not like they are decideing who should get in free and who should not. EVERYONE PAYS! eveeryone is treated as an equal, no favourites. Stelling decided, as all people in the media do to get "controversial" its boring, and just feeds their egos. Worse still it tries to divide Saints fans, and seems to have had that effect. We need harmony on this bus.
Watching Jeff's rant earlier, I'm even more swayed towards Le Tiss. 17 years with the club and hundreds of good memories. Matt, and his son especially, can say what they like and they clearly feel Nicola isn't a nice bloke.
Have your own opinion, why listening to a Hartlepool fan who presents a Sports Scoresheet on a Saturday would swing you more in favour of MLT I do not know.
They are friends with the Benali's and Cortese had a dispute with them too. They aren't exactly going to be praising Cortese after being denied extra tickets and Cortese/Liebherr taking the limelight away from them.
Jeff has a soft spot for Saints. I just cannot see what the harm is in giving a free ticket to legends like Le Tiss. I think we should have a legends day where people like Matt, Lawrie Mac, Terry Paine etc should all be given free tickets and be applauded for their efforts over the years. Some people regard Cortese higher than Le Tiss and Lawrie Mac which I really don't understand. Legends are not born overnight or in the press.
It's not about rating one higher than the other. It's just that people care more about where this club is heading and what the future holds for us than past achievements/heroics.
But if we had a regular legends day, wouldn't the novelty wear off? We would open the stadium and employ staff to host legends for free, and what else would happen, it'd lose us money. Cortese is not a legend at all yet, but why people have to resort to online and slagging off in the media is untrue. Why could one party not conduct an amicable interview? I mean that clapping and cheering on GSS was pathetic.
