Amen Rocky... A big confidence booster for your boys today taking down one of the teams fancied to bounce straight back up. I am however, very much hoping you don't do the same to us when we venture down to your place...!!
a good day all round my bet is lookin good for u lot to win the league and my team were awesome today, happy days
Moot points - Great first half. The lads played slick attacking football and created a hatful of chances. We looked like scoring everytime we went forward. Waggy, Jackson, Stephens and Solly were the shining stars today. Waggy's best game this season by a country mile. He looked confident and dangerous. Second half was too casual. CP needs to get this complacent attitude sorted out when we are in winning positions. Yann Kermit looked really good and his arrival will light a fire under the likes of Hayes and Euell. Hayes flits between the sublime and the ridiculous. His overhead effort was excellent but some of his touches were abysmal. John Sheridan should be ashamed of himself. His foul language was uncalled for and he deserved to be sent to the stands. All in all, another good result. I just wish we had beaten them by 5 or 6. Only downer was my missus and daughters going mad with my debit-card in H&M and New Look on Bugsby Way.
Now a nice draw or even avictory over the Tango man on Tuesday would be nice to see. Well done to Wycombe for yesterday
Chris Solly is running away with my vote for Player of the Season at the moment, he's the one player who consistantly steps out onto the pitch and does his job to the letter everytime. (thats not just this season but every game he's played) Bit of a shame really because if we do get promoted it'll probably be because of BWP's goals and he'll be everyone's obvious vote. Still.... Long LONG way to go yet
Agree with you whole heartedly there. Solly is pencilled in on the team sheet for me he is solid and dependable and if he keeps fit and keeps the performance level up will get my vote at the end of the season but, as you say, there is a lot of the season left for something to happen and change my mind.
I said the same thing during the game yesterday, Solly is POTY right now, definitely. Well done to Powelly, I would have had BWP off(begrudgingly) as he had a tough game, Hayes was far more dangerous and important to the frontline. But you just can't take Bradley off as he will score goals. The Pritchard injury hit home yesterday in the second half when we all knew we need something fresh and without options to swap any wingers and Hollands and Stephens started to look sluggish as the game went on(through endeavour not through poor games). We need Green available and Alonso quickly. Yann did look very composed, I'm not jumping on this he swaps for Hayes stuff yet. He had 10 minutes on his debut, where he played 2 good balls. Hayes has been the link man for pretty much every BWP goal this season, he has some bad touches here and there, but thats because he gets more ball than pretty much any player in our 11. The important bit is just how many goals he is involved in and it's pretty much all of them. Waggy...................................He's lost some confidence or fitness I think, he seems afraid to run at defenders, which used to be his bread and butter. He's just not getting into the games. I still think he has shown himself to be a great option up front off the bench, impact player like he started here. Can't underestimate the win against a team on top form having won 3 in a row and despite a lazy second half, they still didn't actually cause us any problems at all.
Jackson was immense yesterday his best game i`ve seen him play at the centre of everything and a real captains roll as for Solly once again excelled a real traditional charlton player. Realiable dependable him and BWP first choices on the team sheet.
I think we are all agreed that the majority of the team had a good game yesterday, so who in your mind was the weakest link?
No weakest link in the first half, but for a spell in the second the whole team seemed to just sit back. They seemed to come to life again after Taylor's booking.
Have to say that all the revelant points of the game have been stated already, but to echo SuperChris I have to mention Wiggins confident performance. For me the weakest link in the team so far, but will rapidly change my mind with perfomances like that. Kergomont (sp?) looked solid too, and Hayes will have to really play for his place.
On a Chesterfield forum they're moaning about the Jimmy Seed and the Valley being crap. Poor dears. Bless them.
What a bloody cheek. They got in for a fiver instead of twenty quid and they're moaning? I didn't notice Exeter fans having a moan about the facilities last season. Something to do with the result possibly?
Of course, yeah. They're complaining about that too. To be fair, Chesterfield is a slightly nicer place than Mansfield, and almost as lovely as Derby and Sheffield, so you can see where they're coming from...
Guys, thanks for the updates - sounds like a really positive performance. Unfortanately i couldnt follow the game as i was sailing in the Solent all weekend - i know, but someone has to do it !!
