RIP any respect for this thread. 1 day into my lock-down and all you're getting from me is cobblers. Nothing new there then!
Back on topic... HRH The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. So far he only has mild symptoms. He will no doubt receive the best medical attention money can buy, so his survival prospects should be extremely good. Also Car drivers get a six month MOT extension. A sensible move by the Government I think. The increase in accidents caused by defective cars should be minimal. Nothing compared to the good done through the ability of key workers to stay on the roads without fear of prosecution. One annoying complication though is the extension does not come in until March 30th. So technically anybody driving a car or even parking it on a public road if the MOT has just expired will still be breaking the law for the next 5 days. I hope the Police and Insurance companies use some common sense during this time. And the Government has said drivers still have a responsibility to keep their cars (or motorbikes) in roadworthy condition. and lastly... Off-licence stores classed as essential shops and will remain open Should relieve pressure on the supermarkets when it comes to selling booze.
The US Government unable to ratify their Coronavirus emergency spending bill. This isn't just Trump's fault (though he has made a bad situation a lot worse by failing to make any effort at all to unify his country since he was elected - surely a vital obligation for a President). The whole political system in the USA has become totally polarised, with any sense of common cause drowned by fanatical party dogma on both sides. That country is now as close to an actual second Civil War as it has ever been. In comparison, our politicians have behaved with admirable maturity. EDIT: 4:00am UK time - they finally passed the bill So all hope is not lost. the US Senate has voted it through 100 to 0
For the past two days I have woken up with a terrific pain at the bottom of my back. Is this getting old or that then sitting on the sofa for another 14 hours has not helped? Are there any Doctors among our 8.4 membership?
Maybe your having a growing spurt? Probably too much inactivity Elfs try some sexercise! Even if it doesn’t help the back it’s still fun
I suffered back pain on and off for 50 years until last year I self-referred to an NHS physio. After a phone conversation he sent me some exercises by e-mail. Sorted. Amazing the difference. If it persists you can self-refer, it's worth a try.
That's a coinicidence. I suffered very similar sounding symptoms beginning last Wednesday (18th March). Woke up on Wednesday morning and could barely walk, awful ache right at the base of my spine. It was not a stabbing pain, it felt more like a muscle pull type pain. I had to take last Wednesday off work, it was so bad at first. After a while I found that if I could force myself to stand up and walk around, the pain gradually eased. But if I laid back down on the bed, the pain would abate while I was lying there, but as soon as I tried to get up again the pain returned full force. Each day since last Wednesday the symptoms have gradually eased off. This morning it was barely noticeable. I assumed I had hurt my back without realising it on the day before last Wednesday. That Tuesday was a very busy day at work, I did a lot of pallet building and wheeling heavy boxes about. Pretty sure it was not kidney stones or constipation. I assume it has nothing to do with Coronavirus. Never heard back pain described as a symptom.
Oddly enough it's usually tall people who get lower back pain, and I'm only about 3" taller than you. The conventional wisdom used to be that you should lie down on stiff boards, but now they say you should keep active.
Keeping active worked for me. It is probably just a coincidence. A huge number of folk suffer with bad backs.
I have suffered with back pain since my late 20's... but I'm a British Male … you just take painkillers and get on with life, no biggie
