A couple of Tory MP's looking for some fall guys in Labour to take some of the flak does not make a government of national unity, it will not happen.
I am doing my best to keep you on topic SH and to allow you to comment. Take your pick. I can simply remove any post that you make that is not about the coronavirus, or take the view that you have ignored the warnings and would be happy to have a 30 day ban from the thread. Just look at this post. It is totally off topic.. It is easier for me to simply put a ban on your comments, but I feel that you should have a say being the only poster who is so subservient to the government.
There are many posts off topic but because they may agree with your views, or insult me you conveniently ignore them. You really should try to be more consistent.
Interesting comment from a leading expert who is a government adviser, that up to two thirds of people who die from coronavirus in the next nine months are likely to have died this year from other causes. Fatailities are unlikely to exceed 20,000 but could be substantially lower.
Do you not grasp that someone can make a comment directly questioning the government's handling of the crisis, while not making a party political broadcast. I am sure that you are brighter than you are making out at present and you should realise I am doing my best to help you, but .....
If you were bright enough to read the thread properly you would realise other posters commented on the possibility of Labour MPs joining the government. It is perfectly logical to point out that this is most unlikely, apart from a token involvement. This is not wartime and the present government is perfectly capable of handling the situation without other parties joining it.
Oh I do read the posts. There have been many comments across many news agencies suggesting that this situation is too big for one party to control. Many governments have brought various parties together to deal with the crisis, so those who have suggested such things are on topic. For you to simply slag off the Labour Party and then go on about the SNP being the opposition, is nothing to do with the current situation. You are simply expressing your own personal opinion on something that is not being discussed.
There is no possibility of the Tory government inviting very inexperienced Labour shadow cabinet ministers into government. The mass rising against Corbyn a few years ago saw all the decent experienced Labour MPs sidelined leaving a few extreme left wing stragglers to cobble together a token shadow cabinet. The present potential leaders have been chosen from this small pool. This has drastically reduced the potential experience and quality an opposition party may have previously offered. The government must seriously doubt the potential benefit of their inclusion.
Can we move beyond this petty party political stuff please ? We have a problem here which is crossing all boundaries - if it kills people they will be Tories, Labourites, Brexiteers, Remainers - these differences are no longer relevant in the present crisis. We are searching for solutions and there is no party which has all the answers on this, and we need the most able people of all parties (and all parties have such people) working together on this.
Good to see that in Ireland the two parties that tied in the recent election have come together to provide a government to fight this virus. On a lighter note: The owners of a clothing store straddling the border between Belgium and the Netherlands have been forced to close half of their shop and cordon it off to halt the spread of the coronavirus – while cheerfully keeping the part on Dutch territory open for business. The Zeeman store in the municipality of Baarle-Nassau, where the border splits streets in half, took the unique approach after the Belgian federal government ordered the shuttering of all non-essential stores. None of the clothes on the Belgian side of the shop are available for purchase but the half of the store in the Netherlands continues to welcome customers as the Dutch government has only called for physical distancing.
I would say that this is a case of the purchaser not specifying exactly what they wanted - or perhaps they did. Either way it is poor.
Just added to mine, too. These bastards don’t think in moral terms, they concern themselves only with ‘filthy lucre’ - which they call ‘business sense’. This supposed ‘business sense’ of the decision-makers lacks the comprehension of what placing on a customer’s lifetime blacklist does to a company - let alone when there are thousands and thousands of customers who will blacklist them too.
