That's like the police saying they can't provide a police service because of the Virus or the NHS saying they can't help people because of staff sickness... he'll be the first to complain when his budget is cut because there is no money coming in.

What do we need a Mayor of London for anyway now?

The position was only created to boost London's PR for tourism.
And this Mayor is almost at the end of his mandate anyway.

Stay at home Mr Khan like the rest of us.

I get the impression he Khan't win. The trains won't run themselves. The government get praised for working 24/7. Khan gets told to stay at home! When Ken dares to mildly criticise the PM he gets a load of bile n vitriol. As I said earlier I don't think much would be different under any PM, maybe previous chancellors would not open the purse strings so much, but who knows. Everyone is doing their best, whatever political party they are in, and MP's from both sides have come down with it.

Now it's Olympic athletes bending our ears with their tales of woe.

First they were griping because their training was being disrupted by worries about the virus etc.
Now they're moaning because a whole extra year of preparation is difficult for them to adjust to.

For pity's sake dry up you pampered, highly strung bunch of ingrates.
Shock revelation - The world does not revolve around you.
People are dying by the thousands. Sorry if that upsets your micro-managed, all consuming, obsessive lust for glory.
Go take some steroids and calm down.

This is why we all have to help them as much as we can.
The older and less healthy of us must observe all the rules, to save ourselves from infection and adding to the burden on the NHS.
Younger, healthy people can consider volunteering for the new NHS support service; 250,000 are needed.

The bosses at my firm decided to close the factory today and ask all staff to stay at home, for our protection.
We had a very busy last day getting extra orders out to our main customers, after telling them we would not be able to supply for a while.

Good luck to our key workers and volunteers.

I'm glad it seems that your bosses have thought of the health of their staff before finances.

They are decent folk. And the company is in fair shape fortunately. It can survive the fatory being closed down for a time.

I hear President Trump has finally departed from reality completely.
He says he is confident America will be working again by Easter.
They'll be working alright - digging mass graves and building funeral pyres.

People wondered what it would take to oust Trump.
Looks like the answer will be millions of American lives.
He actually seems to believe the only course of action is to more or less carry on as normal.
Ask Americans to go to work while their elderly and vulnerable family members drop like flies.
Apparently the US economy is more important than human life to him.

Not much of a surprise I guess.
But if he thinks he is going to get re-elected in the wake of the worst plague ever to ravage his country, he must be insane.
Trump is showing his true colours as ever, and they are not a pretty sight.

Trump cares about Trump. He doesn't need success either, just the idea he has "succeeded". He bases so much of his rule on the stock exchange that its current state must be gnawing at him.

He keeps chipping away at his own fan base just by the predictable way he reacts to every situation.

He had supporters among many non-white ethnic groups in America, and women as well.
But he must have lost most (aside from the most deluded and/or psychotic) of his Black, Hispanic, Asian (Chinese descent) and female supporters.

If Trump glibly exhorts the white working class to carry on like nothing is happening while their hospitals and morgues overflow with virus victims, he will lose the support of a huge swathe of them as well - the ones who are still alive, that is.

His fanatical supporters are in total denial.
But (as somebody on the BBC website said) this Coronavirus crisis cannot be insulted or discredited or briefed against until it just goes away.
Unlike Trump's fantasy world, it is REAL.
