Very unlike me to do anything that isn’t for my own gain but I’m trying to sign up as a volunteer. I think I paid to have my (enhanced) DBS renew automatically but easier said than done to get the info I need to get on there. I understand why they need to be super careful but can imagine a lot of people getting frustrated and giving up. Still trying like so if you’re in the Berks area and get a lift home from hospital in a death trap convertible with 90s RnB blaring out it could be me.
Scrap that they’ve got 150k volunteers already so probably my fault. Waiting patiently for my forgotten username request.
London must be completely closed down. No one in, no one out. Too many idiots ignoring guidelines. I exclude the self employed, as we are still not assured of much help. I heard that someone was number 76,000 in line, waiting to get signed up for universal credit. They must simplify the means for getting help for the self employed and sort it out asap. Give everyone registered as self employed a monthly payment, same for everyone. If they did that, people like me would stay at home.
I thought about that as well. My Mrs has already done something She went out posting those information leaflets at the weekend. I walked around with her and got cold. Apparently I heard 250k have offered help.
Barry Gardiner on Radio 5 this morning advocating a massive increase in the rate of Statutory Sick Pay. Interviewer, 'Yes, but how much would that cost?'. FFS!
You aren’t going to undo decades of a mentality in a few weeks. We’ve had the most right wing government of my lifetime needing to impose the most socialist measures possible in the blink of an eye, in their defence.
Isn't Codeine also addictive and therefore needs to be used carefully in the same way that Morphine is?
If you want a better understanding of the statistics there is a very good programme on Radio 4 now. It’s called More or Less if you want to listen later. Educational. Kind of reassuring on the virus itself - as long as we stick to the social distancing/isolation rules we could well be in the range as a ‘normal’ year for overall deaths, the challenge being that these deaths are compressed into a very short period. If we don’t 10,000 deaths a day by mid April.....but this is now very very unlikely. Phew. The age vulnerability stuff seems accurate, despite the scare stories directed at the young. Confirmation of what we all knew, the Iranians have simply lied about their numbers, which underestimate the size of the outbreak there by at least 500 times. The economic impact is simply horrific. The recession we are facing could cause more deaths than the virus. But the actions being taken are just about the only ones available, and a rapid bounce back is a possibility. Taxes will go up.
A lot we know. It's not an unreasonable question to ask because there will be a financial price to pay in due course. By the way did he give an answer or evade giving one? The same questions were also asked, quite reasonably about the efforts the government has already taken to protect first the jobs of those who are employed and then this week the incomes of those who are self-employed.
I read of actors/actresses, footballers, politicians and pop stars all claiming they have tested positive for coronavirus. I also read of an intensive care doctor working tirelessly on the front line, feeling very unwell yet unable to get tested?!?!? People like Staines and his colleagues unable to get tested. My sister in law working every day with the elderly and vulnerable unable to get tested! Is it a case of money talks yet again?
It can be.......it’s an opiate. That’s why i said it (co-codemol) is the next ‘step up’ from Paracetamol and is I think you have to ask your pharmacist for it who will discuss it’s use.
