You should let the Japanese know the good news because accountants have estimated a £5 billion cost associated with the Olympics delay

You should post the source of that, otherwise I’ll file it under - not understanding the difference between lost and deferred revenue.

As suspected, sensationalist nonsense. The entire cost of the infrastructure and staging the thing is £10BN and the claim around the ‘loss’ seems to be based largely on the fact they’d contractually sold large chunks of the real estate off, and that will now be pushed back a year.

You need more straws mate, as they keep getting shredded.

What next a hologram of Bill Shankly saying Liverpool lifting the trophy this season is not a matter of life and death
IT IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT

Funny that in the very article he's quoted, even with the £5bn cost implication everyone involved from the organisers to the athletes themselves are saying it was the right decision to cancel it this year. Astro would do well to read the quotes from those countless athletes at the bottom of the page. Some really humbling comments from men and women who have worked hard for their special moment in time but willing to put it aside for the greater good. It shames the ex-livpl players who are putting their own self-interest above people's health and well-being.

Of course delaying the Olympics is right, just like delaying Hendo's trophy lift is right.

    He's a ****ing joke off a person.

His main aim is to see some team lift a title, a team he's never even seen.

I've been on this site properly for about 6 years. In that time I've come and gone a few times. But in all that time, one thing has remained constant....

Astro trying to convince himself that day is night <laugh>

The sequel is better. It talks about how all contract lawyers became unemployed after everyone agreed to take to easy because any money you don't earn today you'll just earn tomorrow instead.

They're still not listening to you

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...tment-in-japan-after-tokyo-olympics-postponed

The first postponement in the Olympics’ 124-year modern history is expected to create a financial headache for the myriad businesses with a financial stake in the Games.

The IOC and local organisers will have to renegotiate contracts with official broadcasters and sponsors, and extend rent agreements on venues that, until Tuesday, were to have served their purpose by the time the Paralympics ended in early September.

The Nikkei business delay reported on Wednesday that the organising committee estimates that the postponement will raise the total cost for the Games by 300bn yen ($2.7 billion) due to additional labour and other costs. There is no guarantee, either, that the 80,000 volunteers who were due to descend on Tokyo this summer will be available next year.

The current season will never be completed if it’s not played out before the 8th August 2020. So if there’s 19/20 season PL games played on or after the 8th August, you win.

If the league is voided I win.

If it’s completed before the 8th August - no bet

They postponed it despite the financial headache for the myriad businesses with a financial stake in the Games.

They have the luxury of a 4 year gap in between Games. The PL season starts in August. It's going to be tricky.

PL season doesn't start in August because the current season has been extended indefinitely and only 3 teams have qualified for next season <ok>
