The delusion regarding Plain Rooney it seems is continuing. First we had Slur Alex claiming Shrek is playing like Pele, he's probably right Pele is after all 70 years old. Now we have Andy Gray claiming Rooney is playing like Kenny Dalglish.
This is what the sexist said ''Both have the same levels of strength and power, although both aren't/weren't the quickest or the biggest as both are 5ft 10, and aren't/weren't out and out forwards both are/were performing at the same level.
I've heard it all now. Kenny may have been like Rooney ie strong as an ox, but Kenny was much more than that, Kenny could combine strength and grace. For someone that at times could be brutal, he was a conjuror, a magician.
Rooney talent wise has less talent than Kevin Keegan, both had/have the same levels of energy and endeavour and stamina. Is Rooney as good as Kenny in his prime, not in a million years.
The closest I've seen to Kenny in the last 20 odd years are Dennis Bergkamp, Peter Beardsley and Gianfranco Zola. Rooney is light-years behind those.
In a nutshell Gray is talking out of his arse.

Both are about 5ft 8, so yes, Gray is lying.

But in terms of ability. Even a complete imbecile can see that Plain Rooney should never be mentioned in the same breath as the ''Prince of Parkhead''. Thats one of Kennys names. The other being ''The King of the KOP''.

    Is another what?
Kenny was Best, Law and Charlton rolled into one.
Bob Paisley played alongside and against some of the finest players ever ie Tom Finney, Stan Mortenson, Stanley Matthews, and alongside Billy Liddell, and he said Kenny was the best he had ever seen. So that proves it.

Why would I be obsessed about a debt ridden club whose star striker is a granny shagging, brain-dead thug?

all i'll say is it proves gray is an awful fool. he was around when kenny was playing so he really ought to know he's talking rubbish.

the person who commented that the closest thing theyh have seen to kenny being bergkamp is right. and even the thickest kid should know rooney and bergkamp are radically different

Spot on with the Kenny/Bergkamp point mito.

Gray loves pandering to "Sir Alex" and praising to Utd whenever possible(a part of SkySports indoctrination no doubt),but your right,Gray's a Scot and knows the fundamental difference between Kenny's style of play and Rooney's.

Bottom line is hes after OT brownie points.

That would be me that compared Bergkamp to Kenny, I also put Beardsley and Zola in the same bracket, as close but not close enough. Rooney is nowhere near Beardsley, Bergkamp or Zola, not by a long way.

exactly... i am not going to bash rooney though only gray... rooney's game is just different to bergkamp or kenny. Yes he's about getting o nthe ball deep and linking play but god thats not creative play its linking play. Rooney is more about power, pace and finishing. yes he links the play very well but honestly if gray thinks thats what kenny or bergkamp were about???? only 30 yards from goal. in or around the box kenny and bergkamp show thier creative class

    Spot on.
Kenny was strong as an ox, but he also had the subtlety in his play that very few had, Platini had it, Zidane had it, Cruyff had it. There is no way that Rooney should be mentioned in the same breath as Kenny. He's not even in the same class as Kevin Keegan and Kenny was 10 times a better player than Keegan was...Keegan said so himself.

As much I hate rooney, its a little annoying how just because someone is playing now and is English, they suddenly become an 'average' or 'boring' player. We have this problem too with Carroll, Downing and Henderson

    Dalglish had grace?

He certainly doesnt now. Dalglish is Wenger Mk2. Moan moan ****ing moan.

Is Rooney like Dalglish? No, hes several times better. First off he plays for Manchester United, secondly he doesnt play for Liverpool and thirdly you said dalglish was better which automatically means hes not.

On a serious note for the other LFC fans........Rooney has a far better goalscoring record in england doesnt he ( scotland doesnt count at all ). Football has **** all to do with grace. Maradona had no grace at all but is widely regarded as one of the best ever.

Look at it in terms of importance to the team, both are/were vital to their clubs and I dont know about dalglish but rooney is the focal point of Manchester United. regardless of KPR's delusions, Grey has a point ( remember hes played against dalglish and has seen Rooneys entire career, hes pretty well qualified to give a fair opinion ).

    Fair enough.
Its also a little bit silly to make out players are world class just because they are English and play for Manchester United, when they are nowhere near world class. Rooney is not world class, was never world class, or will ever be world class. Its time a lot of people realised this.

Maradona didnt have ity and Maradona was better than all of those put together.

Great players are not nice guys, they are winners, winners do what it takes. Even if you assume a guy is nice and everyones pal, hes is definitely not. You dont know any footballers and are assuming they are nice guys because they were nice guys on the pitch. I bet I can find many examples of any player who ever played the game doing something that wasnt very sporting like.

We never have world class players. Instead we choose to make the other 19 clubs look stupidly **** by winning the league with the 11 worst pro footballers ever. This says alot aboit the football abilities of Suarez, Gerrard and co aswell as the managerial ability of Ken Dalglish doesnt it?
