Johnson is obviously unqualified ...any politician is. That is why they have experts. Johnson job is to lead...and convince us to do what the experts say. At the moment all the politicians are doing well, and there is little political point grabbing.
No, you're correct. As I pointed out he's having to react instead of taking the lead. And Sunak is making him look even worse...
Stack' em high sell' em cheap - difficult I suppose to get out of old habits. I'd bet anything that the booze is also being sold at below cost price - to entice the punters in. Always was a scumbag food retailer
No tin hat necessary, Strolls. I'm not sure who exactly is qualified and suited to deal with this situation, though. I've been reading all the criticism on Twitter, seemingly led by Piers Morgan, and am not wholly clear on what to make of it. If I was PM and was surrounded by medical, scientific and other experts, then I'd presumably be a fool not to follow their advice under the present circumstances? If Johnson hasn't been following their advice, then I'd have expected someone to have broken ranks and resigned by now, or for Johnson to have replaced them if he didn't like the advice they were giving. I'm not aware that's happened yet, so can only conclude that his government is following the advice, or at least there's a degree of acceptable compromise within the group. Maybe this isn't so, but there's not been much dissent coming out from within this group. A bit has been made of the government's about-turn on strategy following Imperial College's revised projections but, when the 'facts' change (if IC's work is indeed fact), then you'd presumably be pretty ballsy to ignore it, I would suppose. The bottom-line is that nobody wants preventable deaths on their hands, but neither do they want to shag the economy more than is necessary, which might in itself lead to hardship and even death in the future. Perhaps one should only deal with what's immediately in front at times like these?
Teaches him right for under-estimating the possible impact of this virus. It will be interesting to see how their healthcare system copes.
Scum is too kind a word for these kind of people. I hope they don't need one of those ambulances for themselves.
We need such stringent stay at home measures in the UK as the thickos in our society are just not getting it. The message is very simple, stay at home & watch tele or listen to the radio, browse the internet, take up online gaming. Nothing else!
Will be interesting to see the Italian figures when they come in today. I know its very early and will get worse but i am surprised there wasn't a bigger jump here? looking at our stats and Italy they were increasing greatly each day whereas ours seems different.
