With the news about McDonalds, Primark etc all shutting down I would assume the full lockdown is imminent. Businesses that big probably get a bit of a heads up on the next steps before they are made public
So what is a full lockdown. Here in the Netherlands all but essential shops, food, chemists and a few others have been closed for over a week. Schools ditto. Bars and restaurants since last Sunday, take away and delivery services available. We're able to go out to shop, and exercise no need for forms and no restrictions on time or distance. Not, I think, a full lockdown and of course there's groups of fools in close proximity, they have wooden shoes to stop the woodpeckers attacking their heads.
The problems a full lock down would cause will vary depending on your situation. For instance I have a garden and am surrounded by very quiet streets which I am sure will not be patrolled, but a different matter for someone in a high rise flat in the city. Very bad for mental health to not be able to get out.
Too many people write off Cuba as a busted communist state but look at what this tiny country is doing to reach out to Italy. A truly astonishing gesture of solidarity, warmth and support towards fellow human beings ..... In an act of international solidarity, Cuba has sent a brigade of more than 50 doctors to Italy to help them in their fight against coronavirus. The Caribbean island, one of the world’s last remaining communist states, has a long history of sending medical assistance to countries in need. According to the Cuban news agency, Prensa Latina, the group arriving in Italy includes 36 doctors, 15 graduate nurses and a logistics specialist. They will work in a field hospital built in Crema, a city of about 34,000 people, located in the province of Cremona, Lombardy, the region hardest hit by the epidemic. Prensa Latina quoted the national coordinator of the Cuban Residents in Italy group as saying: "Our land does not offer what it has left over, our nation shares what it has".
Two nurses were sent from our team for PPE training this morning. The idea was they 'cascade' the info to the rest of the team. This they have done. Amount of PPE equipment available at our base in Wimborne? None. The nearest place we can obtain some is from the trust headquarters in Poole, for which we compete with several other teams in Dorset.. Community nurses are being asked to give depot injections, take bloods and basic observations with NO protection. No masks, no gloves, Just a lot of hand washing. We are on our last box of antiseptic wipes, which are not allowed out of the building. Asking some of our clients if they have signs of infection is also somewhat challenging. Not a lot of fun really.
I have had the text from the government advising I am high risk and advise I remain home for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Shambles . Sad could have been avoided bloody shambles and putting people’s lives in even more danger
Quite a few people still in the office , several of who can and want to work from home but the senior management are , currently , saying NO
Sorry to hear that mate. My work colleague's wife has been contacted too - she has asthma as well. Apparently, she has to isolate even from him (impossible for them to do with 3 kids as well), but they are all now going into lockdown for the next 12 weeks. Scary times. Keep your chin up and if you need to chat or have a laugh, we are always here and I'm on the text too
