We weren't even talking about SBR, you just brought that in.

We were talking about your assertion that the fans "chased out Robert" which they didn't, as he was massively popular under Robson and his performances only dipped when Souness became manager as Souness clearly hated him.

Also what did the fans have to do with wanting Luque? No one even knew who he was!

You were pretty much the only one then.

Certainly no one was citing him as a player we needed, and even Souness didn't want him.

he played well in spain for quite a while and in the champions league he had a blinding year, however we signed him after his legs went and he simply came for the money and into a side under a terrible new manager. All I know is Robert was class.

We basically signed him on the basis of a load of youtube clips, his legs hadnt gone, he was 27 when he came and supposedly in the prime of his career. You can't blame Souness, he hardly played under him; he was injured a few games after he started and by the time he was fit again Souness was pretty much out the door. The simple fact was he was a terrible player, we gave him a standard Prem wage and he said he couldn't believe how much we were paying him.

Souness specifically said he wanted Luis Boa Morte not Luque, but Sheppard said he couldn't have LBM and Luque was available for 1.5m, next thing he knew, Sheppard had paid 9.5m for Luque and he was saddled with a player he knew nothing about.

You can't blame the fans for Robert's exit, when it was blindingly obvious that there was no chance of him staying under Souness.
