Season postponed until when? EPL say 6 weeks Boris says 12 weeks but imo it is going to be much later than that before we see any games. With such a long layoff players are going to need a preseason so I am going for 21st June 2020. Anyone want to suggest a date for our next EFL match?

Some sources reckon virus will peak in August, if so, next game behind closed doors in October-November 2020?

    Taken from the TWS board.

A break from discussion of the virus but related. Been reading numerous predictions on how this season should be ended. Void season, not fair on teams currently in promotion places but great for teams in bottom three. Cancel now and promote on current standings, not fair on teams in relegation spots but great for those in promotion ones. So here’s my suggestion. Finish current season whenever possible, could take weeks, maybe months. Play only a half season next year, teams only playing each other once. Added advantage being fans can attend all matches and enjoy celebrations or whatever. Seems fairest to me as every promotion or relegation for both seasons would be earned on the pitch as it should be
The major issue with this would be June contracts, players able to leave on a free and loan signings. I wonder how many teams will fold without the gate money?

I honestly think we’ll see behind closed doors games being the way forward once the hysteria dies down. Teams in the bottom three will be screaming for a void season, their players will suddenly be in self isolation, expect some dirty tactics.

With no sporting events happening for at least three weeks the media will need to find ways to keep readers and viewers interested so I’m expecting all kinds of crazy stories to be released to drum up a frenzy of discussion and debate.

My only fear is public pressure to void the season, the public being every jealous fan, every Liverpool hater, every fan who supports a team with no chance of going up and of course the Hull City fans ;)

TWS fans don't like us for some reason.

That misses the possibility of players or other key staff members being unavailable due to being infected, and it contradicts the message on restricted gatherings, as contact is inevitable.

Out of contract players become a problem... their contracts expire June 30th. If the season hasn’t resumed by that point, do they leave? Do they play the games they would have played?

I think the best possible course of action would be to cancel the season, revert all January transfers and restart this season the way it was started.

Which has got zero chance of happening due to all the legal complications etc. I'm sure Jarrod and Kamil would be delighted to come back for another dose of the Allams ****show.

I think you either write off this season or next season, I dont think you can have both. Which course of action loses least money will be the one followed

Agreed. The actions of the clubs will be purely motivated by financial implications. This is much bigger than football and will see the deaths of thousands of people. Who gives a **** about promotion and relegation in these circumstances. If the season finishes now and does not restart then either finish the season as the positions stand now or make it null and void. Personally I don't care which one it is and if the latter option offends Leeds United fans I care even less.

Finish this season.3 month break then start next season which is reduced by half.
One month transfer window in the last month of the 3 week break.
Finish the cups then scrap them for next season.
All contracts extended to close of this season.

How do you make players extend contracts? Don't think it can work, only solution has to be scrap this season, or play it after a 3 month transfer window. When they wakeup I dont think clubs will want that.
