I'd posted on here that we went for tea on Monday, it was quiet so loads of space, clean etc and much safer than both our workplaces. If this thread is a representation of the nation ( which I like to think it is), it sounds like tonight will be total madness

This morning, booked a table at my local for dinner tonight.

Midday got a call from them, 'are you still coming?'. Lots of cancellations apparently.

This is a community-owned pub, so I like to support it. It's way out in the countryside, as are we, so I'm thinking it's lower risk than a West End drinking pub.

We'll still go, not sure what to expect though. Am I deluding myself?

    The Chancellor spoke very impressively.

Wonder when HS2 will be scrapped to free up funds for all the emergency measures.

Maybe did ? this virus is a convenient way for the Orwellian state to impose the kind of restrictions on us that will be needed to fight Climate Change....so expect a lot more of the same after this particular episode is over and it will drag out much longer than the touted 12 weeks though hope iam proved wrong.

He's a **** who has shafted the self employed.
As it stands I could get about £400 a month benefits whilst others on PAYE get 80% salary.

Getting a bit political that. I'd just say a lot of useful lessons could be learned from this episode. Whether they will be or not is another matter.

Absolutely full on agree with this ^

The scum that are raiding the shelves in the supermarkets make me feel sick to my stomach, one customer apparently ranted at a manager in Sainsbury’s today as she’d been queueing outside waiting for the shop to open, she rushed in as soon as the doors were unlocked only to find that there was no loo roll, she then told one of the managers that if they didn’t have toilet roll they should announce it, he went on to diplomatically tell her to **** right off. Good for him!

There will be a degree of “babysitting” but I don’t mind. I’d rather that and know the vulnerable ones are safe and being fed (as well as the kids of the key workers) than be having an extended Easter holiday.

Looks like the opposition is making a concerted effort to rectify this.

Lammy in particular calling for 80% income guarantees for self employed as a matter of fundamental fairness.
