Just got back from Sainsbury's at Rayleigh. Decimated is not the word. I came away with a swiss roll, some gluten-free spaghetti, and a tin of onion soup.
Anyone who was hoping that Trump would only have to be endured for 8 years is going to be disappointed. The US Elections in 2020 will probably be scrapped, making him America's first ever President with an indefinite mandate.
Well he's not wrong Food for thought - imagine Corbyn and Abbot handling this crisis. Abbot working out the numbers every day and budgeting for it all
The Sun is reporting this morning that many panic buying shoppers ignored the hour that supermarkets reserved for over 70's shoppers yesterday. I assume the handful of security people at each store were simply overwhelmed. I know the newspaper will whip the story up a bit in tabloid style, but those greedy people who muscled in on pensioner's time are thoroughly shameless pond life. And the newspaper also reports that emergency workers coming off long shifts (48 hours sometimes) are left unable to buy basic food, in stores where the shelves have been stripped. It's time for action to prevent this happening again. We need troops at supermarkets, supervised by police officers. People who can eject leery panic-buyers by force if necessary, confiscate their wallets/purses/mobile phones, take their keys and have their cars impounded, or in extreme cases detain them. I think this move would be cheered and supported by a big majority of peaceful, law abiding people. I value civil liberty, and I don't want Britain to become a Police State. But vulnerable folk are going to starve to death if greedy, opportunistic animals are allowed to run like a pack through supermarkets. I also bet that loads of them are hawking some of their hoards on eBay for massive profits. Black marketeers. Scum.
Sainsburys in Locksbottom adhered to the rule. Shoppers were even telling pensioners to get out of the queue and do their shopping.
I know somebody who went with her 80 year old father to Sainsbury's in Crawley, she said that some people in the queue to pay at tills were clearly below 70 but wasn't it 70 & over plus people at risk?
I imagine they would be taking the same advice from the same people and the country would be in a similar state. The issue hasn't become a political football- yet, but give it time.
The bloke in front of me in the queue at 7:30 was 55, and hadn,t realised there was an over-70 rule in place. The woman in front of him looked about 40, very healthy, and with a 16-pack of toilet rolls, probably the last one. The staff only enforced the rule for less than half an hour.
Hopefully everyone on here is now working at home & being sensible ? Are you still commuting @The mighty Elfsborg ? The NHS is about to witness a very tough time. Intensive Care on trolleys in corridors is possible ....IF people are not now sensible.
