Is it just coincidence that he's a skate?

Our local pharmacy has a one in, one out policy. Gaggle of oldies all clustered together outside waiting their turn. It's all hugs, handshakes and wheezy conversations.
    People baffle me

Bars and restaurants, schools and non-vital shops and services shut here in the Netherlands. No public transport cash transactions, bus and tram drivers isolated from the small number of passengers staggering travel times to avoid busy peaks encouraged. What on earth is the government up to in the UK? Similar action well overdue, most, if not all of my family and friends already following similar practise.

Not me any more, perhaps ODing on cynicism. Dismayed to hear of such mindless stupidity, it trickles down from the top. What short of an example is it when the NHS frontline staff are short of equipment because the government was to slow to act and aren't being priority tested together with a limp wristed "don't go to the pub" request. It's bollocks total bollocks.

I'm back in work tomorrow (NHS CMHT) after a rather strange 'day off'. I recieved a text from a nurse asking me to take in some of my isopropyl alcohol spray as no antiseptic hand gels or surface spray are available to our team. I should note I have gallons of the stuff as I make my own vinyl record cleaner in bulk (20% isopropyl, 79% distilled water and 1% of unscented detergent if you're interested) not that I've panic buyed it.

I'm loath to do so in some ways as it's vicious stuff and I don't want to get the blame when it removes the skin from their hands, or explodes in their car.

I might get in early and wipe down a few surfaces with it though.

I've also had a text from the NHS which helpfully explains that the going off sick proceedure remains unchanged as does the parental leave one, which gives you just one day before you are expected back at work. It maybe reviewed though, which is big of them.

I guess my point is the impression is one of incompetence and a fall back on bureaucracy rather than leadership. I'm horrified by the buying into myths, even by clinicians who should be guided by evidence and research not bloody Twitter.

Our eldest daughter's school will close this weekend although she may have to continue to work as there are a large number of children who will have to still attend.

Our youngest daughter's school is full of military children and will continue.

We will not be seeing either of them or our granddaughters for a long time.

Please just keep you and Mrs G well. The news from Asia this morning is quite encouraging, so hopefully an end might be in sight.

Followed by another cloud when the pandemic is over and pollution is back to former levels. I don't see any seed change in attitude in most, it'll be back to "normal".

A week ago they said we would be playing last weekends fixtures, wouldn’t be taking what anyone says about the future as gospel right now

Today I ventured out. And I've seen a future that I want no part of.
I work day to day with people, but the close proximity at ASDA with greedy, mask wearing hoarders has made me feel more compromised than at any other time in my life. The shelfs are empty, the people mad, the future bleak.
Lock us down Boris. Do it now.

Stock low in my local Sainsburys in Newport, Isle of Wight...though of course things are available to eat, just not what you may be used to. Nice and easy to shop as quiet for weekdays....so no need to be close to anyone. Not seen any bad behaviour.
