Looks a beaut, shame its an epiphone! To be fair though epiphone copies are good, my mates got a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 Epiphone Les Pau copyl, sounds nearly as good, the biggest difference is the feel of the actual guitar. His feels cheap and plasticy.. I got a genuine Gibson Les Paul studio, looks, feels and sounds ****ing sweet! Specially in conjunction with my high gain valve Marshall amp. Pinch a harmonic and it squeels like a pig!!
I've got a Rickenbacker, a Taylor, a Yahama, a Kramer, a Fender, a Danelctro and a Hagstrom. Do I win?
Don't take it to heart mate I was joking by saying that.. I'm really impressed by epiphones guitars. Particularly impressed by the way they've almost mimicd the sound that the original guitars make, and at half the price, if not less, than the originals, they really are a true bargain and great value for money. If you closed your eyes and listened to my Gibson then my mates Epiphone, you could not tell the difference from one to the other. I guess they must use the same pickups and electrics.. Like I said before I think the only real difference from an epiphone to a gibson is, obviously the name at the top, and the feel of the material. His les paul feels really plastic compared to my gibson. But that makes absolutely no difference to the way it feels to play it, it's identical, it's just a different texture to the skin, if you know what I mean, which really IMO is nothing and no reason to go spend double for the real thing. And to be honest if my Gibson wasn't a gift, I would have bought an epiphone myself and saved 500 quid. Good buy you've got there, how much if you don't mind me asking? And it's an ES copy isn't it?
You beat me, my collection consists of only a Gibson Les Paul and Fender Strat (american). And a Yamaha pacifica if that counts for anything... What's a Yahama? Never heard of one of those before?
While we,re on about collections I,ll throw mine in please log in to view this image [/IMG] Frome left to right. Takamine EF591, Gibbo LP studio, Gretch Electromatic, Fender Jaguar Bass, Fender Telecaster
Is that the wine red with gold pickups, bridge etc. LP? Coz that's what mine is... Also is that 3 jack inputs you've got in your wall?? But nice collection by the way!
Yes MT, wine red LP, the 3 jack plugs are in dado trunking they consist of 2 line ins (routed to my patch bay) and a headphone skt thats routed to my mixer via patchbay.
Nice, the wine red with gold accories is my favourite looking LP, needless to say i was stoked when I found out they did a studio version with those colors. And thats a bloody cracking idea with the jacks, I think I may well have to borrow your genius and set my room up the same!
This thread is definately one of the best. The only way this could of happened between the group of people involved, who happen to love guitars, is the fact that they also have a mutual interst in the mighty tigers. Anyone who begrudges this should take a look at their own lives, find a forum for Hull City threads only, then go there and enjoy themselves. May happiness come flooding in their direction.
What do you think of the Gretch? I always wanted one, but when could finally afford it some years ago I went and played a few and I was really disappointed, I found the action made it quite hard to play. For the record, a Yahama is like a Yamaha, but louder.....
got to agree with you b2w about this thread. have to admit to being totally useless in the playing of instruments dept., but, i am enjoying the informative way other are posting about guitars, and, their knowledge of them. if they keep this up i may have to try and learn a bit more than the base-line from Borris The Spider
