He had two in the first two months after he won the election on 12th December. I don't think that's standard for anyone in a new job. I don't think he was on holiday when all this was kicking off, he just chose not to appear in public for a few days in case anyone asked him an awkward question.

Guess with the news yesterday we won’t have any poor ****s wandering on here asking us to answer a dissertation questionnaire for a while. Take the silver linings while you can.

Look, the man is an arse.

However, this last week it has been dealt with in a clear and reasoned manner and is continuing down that route. I don't agree he looks bored, doesn't care, or disinterested though. That's where I disagree.

The fact he's Tory is, to me, irrelevant right now.

    Clear and reasoned?

This government have been playing catch up on the rest of the world, ignoring the lessons learned elsewhere and failing to make use of the information provided by the World Health organisation.

It's an utter shambles, almost everything said last thursday has had to be reversed since.

The result is people were given a false sense of security and the **** has hit the fan.

The reason the pound collapsed yesterday is because those looking in are utterly unconvinced by the actions of the UK government.

So, because our approach is different to another country it's wrong?

    Ok then.

I think I broadly agree. They were lax at first IMO and that will ultimately cost lives but I don’t doubt even Johnson is doing his best now and listening to the adults in the room. This doesn’t excuse his conduct in the past and if I could swap him for someone else I would but by his standards he’s stepping up.

I think he’s a wholly inappropriate PM and wouldn’t trust him to run a sweet shop but he’s the only one we have.

When the approach was based on flu and the rest of the world was using data on corona virus then yes it is wrong.
As highlighted by the research published monday that showed the UK appraoch would overwhelm the NHS eight times over and kill 250,000 people.

That is why the rush to switch to the tactics others are using.

Only after the massive public and media outcry against Boris' plans

But now you, @Chief , think he's suddenly achieved enlightenment and everyone can stop criticising him?

This argument from the government that the science changed is utter bollocks.

The science was already well known and being shared by the rest of the world. Our government just thought it knew better and we will pay the price. Failing to track the virus and allowing it to spread through the community in the same way as Wuhan, Iran and Northern italy is a dereliction of public duty that looks like killing thousands uneccessarily.

Day 1 they said they're following the science and dont need to do anything until the right time to lower the curve.

Day 5: oh **** dont go anywhere

    Suggests day 1 was wrong

Don't agree at all, the mass hysteria was based on misinformation when it all first came out. The 250,000 deaths has been competently refuted since and the approach then and now is/was to manage the peak and keep the strain off the NHS.

If we'd all have ran indoors and hidden, we'd have emerged and the huge peak will still have happened.

    This flattens it.

And they are still not following the science

The science says use protective equipment and test as many as possible

Doctors are working without protective equipment and tests

So, there's going to be 250,000 deaths then, right?

    We'll see, eh?

Take a look at the actual science
    https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/im...-College-COVID19-NPI-modelling-16-03-2020.pdf

Do nothing - Up to 500,000 die
Governments plan last week - Up to 250,000 die
Governments plan on Tuesday - Up to 120,000 die
Governments plan from next Monday - up to 44,000 die.

Managing the peak without social distancing and home quarantine was never possible. The WHO actually recommend those infected are kept separate from others due to how infectious this thing is.
