Anyone else have a really stingy relative?

One of my aunties is famous for it.

I rang my grandma yesterday to make sure she was okay, had everything she needed and was clued up on the latest advice.

She said she wants to avoid big supermarkets but wants a paper to read so I offered to buy her one and pop it round every other day.

She asked if I wanted any money - which of course I said no - and I offered to get her groceries but it turns out my auntie already has but charged my grandma - her own mother!

This woman is retired, recently windowed, is 82, is battling cancer and only lives off of a small pension unlike my reasonably well off auntie.

My auntie didn't take all the money because it was 'potentially dirty' but told my grandma not to worry and that she would take it off of the value of a mothers day present!

 

Next time you see her tell her 'DerekTheMole says "**** you"'

 

The only thing that would make it any worse is if your aunt's doing it online and getting it delivered!

 

She's always been like which is why she falls out with her siblings.

****ing painful hearing it from your grandma though.

Some people just rate money over absolutely everything regardless.

I prefer to think of us as special - in a good way.

I think the comparisons with Italy and being a couple of weeks behind them is proving to be correct.

 

My worry is what happens when we catch up. However ill-equipped they were, even allowing for being an older population, I doubt we are going to cope as well.

 

I've heard a couple of rumours of a nationwide curfew from Thursday night.

It's just not how we do things here so I don't believe it, but we may get to a point where it will be necessary.

 

It is necessary. People simply aren’t taking the advice and need to be told what to do. Still seeing people greet each other and I’m sure the pubs are busy.

 

I don't mind admitting I'm getting a bit lost with diagnosis. Are ppl being diagnosed or not?

I thought if you phone up now, they just tell you to self-isolate, but the news is saying Boris has said diagnosis will be up to 20,000 a day or something?

 

I believe its depends what you describe as your symptoms over the phone. If you for example state you have many of the known symptoms and also have trouble breathing, you will be put forward for a test. If you have the symptoms and just have the flu, so basically around 80% of people that catch it, you're told to just stay home and get better.
