When you find out, let me know.
A couple thousand points on FTSE 100 yet, will go sub 3000.
I ****ed up last year with gold, when it bottomed out I ummed and ahhed and wanted it to drop just a little more before I invested, don;t wanna make the same mistake this time, already chosen my stock of choice, it's almost half what it was.

Goldman Sachs thinks the S&P has another 15% to go and will then recover by over 50%. Your call bruv!

What’s the stock out of interest?

Vodafone, I figure telecommunications will one of the sectors that does better than normal out of the virus, and they haven't diversified like most of the others have.

I agree. And they now pay an 8% dividend but these are crazy times. Good luck.

I'm getting itchy to invest, how much further will the stock market drop?

Depends on how long you’re intending hanging on to it I suppose.

Tesco

They sell whatever is left on their shelves.

Seriously, there are going to be some major buying opportunities amongst the big companies once this **** is over. Unfortunately smaller companies will be ****ed, which helps the big companies.

With all the panic buying and stockpiling that has gone I would think some supermarkets would be a good shout if their shares have crashed - but avoid Associated British Foods as it shares are down because it owns Primark whose sales are ****ed at the moment.

a word of caution, all markets over react and the swings are huge, but I have a feeling that this epidemic will cause the markets to go much much lower - remember they were mainly at all time highs and a correction was due, the Dow has gone from just under 30k to 20k but my gut feeling is that it could go to 15k or lower. FTSE has gone from all time high of near 8k to under 5k and again my feeling is it could go to 3k.
If either happens then they are massively over sold or they are saying the worlds business is ****ed !

i have worked in the Stock Market and Finance since 1976 and have never see such panic and there is a sell at all cost feel to the market at the moment.
Currently I work in Corporate Finance for the Government, and all their future spending plans will go on hold (HS2 etc) as they will need to pour all money at the NHS

This table is frightening

Current policy of social distancing, home quarantine and case isolation puts the death rate between 44,000 and 120,000.

Thats between 3 and 8 times more deadly than a typical flu season.

Btw lads, just to cheer everyone up a bit, I was reading earlier that around 50% of the COVID-19 cases requiring ICU beds, in both France and Italy have been patients who are sub 60.

<yikes> I'm 60 and a sub ... <grr>

... thank **** I've no underlying health problems <whistle>

Does your previous ticker issue still leave you in the vulnerable segment mate?

I’m immuno suppressed, so if I get it, it’ll be an issue......

Technically it likely does ... and the missus is scared ****less about me... but also because she had to have a splenectomy when she was 9 so her immune system is compromised - youngest also has her mum's blood condition, although much more mild and has never had any problems.

My own thoughts are that I have always been pretty much cold and flu resistant so I'm certainly not letting it effect me other than following guidelines on washing hands plus I do have a hand sanitizer in my coat pocket ...
