That’s not how it works. They’ll make battlefield type decisions based on age and likelihood of survival. That’s why allowing this thing to spread unhindered is such a ****e idea. Herd immunity my ****ing arse.

We have two good friends who are GPs. Both were pretty relaxed about it to begin with, both now think the measures being taken are too little, too late. Hopefully they’re both wrong.

I just think that in this instance it's the elderly that need it most.

If that's been written the way it comes across in Chief's post then that's utter bollocks. Btw I know we applaud the NHS and fair enough, but I've seen first hand doctors and nurses writing someone off... and she was in her 30's. So I don't think any better or worse of anyone simply because they wear a white coat.

The herd immunity idea is so ****ing negligent. It will cost tens of thousands of lives due to the inability of the NHS to cope with the demand.

Would have been better to test, trace and isolate to try and limit the spread, sadly I think we are now beyond that point.

Calm down, don't worry mate. Look if the worst happens, when you get to the hospital, just ask what list you are on, if you're on the green clipboard, you survive, if they pull out the black clipboard....

OK so the over-65's are just collateral damage.

Righto, well we'll see how everyone feels about that when it's their elderly loved one being told they can stay at home and die quietly. Despite paying a lifetime of taxes to fund the fcking thing.

Stopping people wandering in without testing or isolation from known affected areas might have been a decent start like, but that horse has long since bolted.

The strategy has been lax and way too slow to this point.

Because they don't have the beds to?

    Based on those figures.

Which, instinctively, seem exaggerated to me.

I get they don't have the beds, I just don't see why they've applied it to the over 65's. I don't see why anyone should be excluded in advance that's all.

Aye, I hope it is exaggerated.

    Exactly.

Once the rank realities of this, becomes tangible to people as it starts to affect their own or people they know. Then, the, it’s just the flu attitude will change dramatically. Only it’ll be too late for many.

I suppose to make it fairer, they could put all the sick names in a hat each day, and draw lots on who lives. See it a bit like winning the lottery.

My own mother developed late onset asthma type thing a couple of years back. Coughs all the time etc. Is 76.

She's adamant that she won't say indoors. Was moaning the bridge club had closed!

I mean, for **** sake, just do what they say.

I started doing all the shopping for my parents last week. Today I couldn't go so told my dad I'll do it tomorrow. He then says, it's ok I need to go the GP's to put in a repeat pres so I can do it then <doh> <laugh>

I told him that wasn't a good idea. So picked up his repeat pres from him and will be dropping it off tomorrow. He honestly couldn't see the problem with doing it.

She doesn't have to stay indoors. But yeah definitely don't go to the bridge club.

No, I know that and worded it wrong. I mean she's (seemingly) not willing to stop doing her thing.

I don't know if it's something you would consider, but I do all my repeat prescriptions online. It's so easy, you just go online, click your meds in the repeat section, and within 3 working days you go and pick your meds up directly from the chemist.

Mate, you get to an age and your thing is your thing. I have a 69yo sister who has had a massive heart attack and now is in danger from just about everything, she just carries on with her life and says what happens happens.
