So if over 70s have to self isolate for weeks on end, who will do their shopping, assuming no one is able to help them? Is this fake news made up by the likes of 'The Scum'? Or government back of *** packet thinking?

Who else is worried about going to work tomorrow? We have a man who went home on Monday because he allegedly had a call from his Missus telling him she had to self isolate as she had a temperature and shortness of breath.

He stayed off the rest of the week, but the funny thing is, he's gone off sick every year(about ten years) for Cheltenham.

Whatever, there are people at work saying if he does turn up, they'll just go home as they can't afford the risk of taking it home to their family.

I'm worried about people who won't get paid full money if they don't attend and at the same time I'm worried that people will turn up even if they are infected for the very same reason.

    This is a complicated problem.

Is there a limit on the amount of times you can self isolate?

Am I the only one who read Lammy's post in an Eric Morecambe voice, imaging him saying it to a lapel grabbed André Previn over a grand piano?

    I am, aren't I?

So far, there’s two cases in Hull and one in the East Riding, your statistically more likely to get run over on the way to work, than you are to get Coronavirus when you get there.

Teacher at a primary school on Brough has it according to Hull Live. School is opening as normal (but the member of staff is obviously isolating).

Possibly, although I refer you to your previous point “They still think it’s doubling every five days, there’s just a delay between the number of people infected and the number of people diagnosed.“
And now they’ve stopped testing that gap will increase

Turns out those 100 scientists weren’t all they were cracked up to be, over half of the signatories are PhD students, near none of them specialise in virology and almost all of them work in the same London hospital.

It’s obviously going to get worse and the numbers will rise, but that being the case, you’re probably best off going to work now and taking time off later.

That said, people need to be conscious of the fact that this situation is going to cost tens of thousands of people their jobs, best to not put yourself at the top of the redundancy list (unless you’ve actually got it, obviously).

Family members and distant relatives will have to step up. Don't read the Sun and no huge supporter of the current UK government (but not a constant hater either), but it is the most sensible thing to me to tell the most vulnerable to self-isolate for a few months. What else is the option? Go out as normal and risk having to go into a badly functioning hospital.

That's a very good point, but if you're genuinely at risk what then?

I do understand, but the big problem is highlighted by your last point. No one knows if they’ve actually got it at first so can’t decide safely to go to work if they have symptoms
As opposed to Korea where you could nip out now to the drive through test place, then get your diagnosis texted to you tomorrow. Worse case (other than positive test of course!) one day off, maybe just the morning.
Surely that makes economic sense for the country?

I was thinking about this when I read it this afternoon. I've stood in a queue in the Post Office while pensioners have drawn their pension and operate mainly with cash. Perhaps many don't use credit cards or such. Is someone going to go to a PO and use their card for them, would the PO even allow or sanction that...Some may not have immediate relatives. How will they access money, even if its for someone to drop food off for them. How would they pay an electricity bill or gas bill without a debit or credit card. Lots of questions that should have had ? after them. I've offered to deliver grocery orders in the local area, even through a window out to a door step, but my local shop doesn't even seem geared up to sort that !!!!!
