I'd be very surprised if that statement is correct.

I agree, if they try to just do it like musical chairs, teams will (rightly) challenge them legally.

Why? The Football Authorities can act in any way they see fit if they have the consent of the members. The only reason it could not happen is that the members do not agree and revolt at the suggestion. If they can find some compensation for clubs who cannot garner any further revenue from the season, I'd bet that the majority would not argue with the proposal. Lets face it, any idea of what might or might not happen is pure conjecture on our part rather than based on anything concrete. These are unprecedented times.

Which is what I believe would happen ...

... and is pure conjecture on my part.

Pinched from elsewhere. If the lad who posted this is on this site I apologise and hope you do not mind. Best suggestion I have seen up to now without going into the financial aspect of this.

What to do with this season?

Perhaps the World Cup offers the answer.
The World Cup is creating a break in the next season when held in December. So, why not set the target of completing this season before the World Cup begins. After the World Cup we could start the new season, say February. This would change the football calendar to run from mid Feb to mid December every year and the benefit of summer football and a significant winter break.

    Why not???

You can’t relegate a team without a full fixture list being played, it’s as simple as that.

The idea they say is most likely of a 22 team Premier League, due to that financial gap being the biggest, but with mo relegations from any league, seems the only viable option.

See Ronaldo has converted all of his chain of hotels in Portugal to hospitals, he’s equipped them and he’s paying the salaries of all medical staff.

What an incredible thing to do.

Rooney has made a great point, in delaying the next 2 seasons and kicking them off late smoothing the path to the winter World Cup 2022.

See my post a tad further up.#246. Not sure how the financial aspect of it will stand up. In theory I agree but logistically is it poss?

It seems to make sense mate. On the financial side, the money would still be coming down the line and you can plan for that, it’s gotta be better than a dead loss.

Logistically, it seems natural, just shift everything by 3 months.

We talk about UK football but Italian football, they’ve been losing major clubs for years, Bari and Palermo went this year, I’d be amazed if Premier Sports survive this so the Italian clubs will have very little income at all.

Kenny Dalglish ( and no doubt on behalf of Liverpool) has said they must not declare the season over , null and void, because it would be unfair to Liverpool’s title. Same guy and club that wanted to cancel all and everyone’s football after Hillsboro?? ( not trying to belittle or draw comparison to either of these situations)

Have Bari and Palermo gone again?! Bari only got demoted to Serie D two years ago for financial problems and last thing I heard Palermo had set an attendance record in Serie D. Some of those big southern Italian clubs really seem to struggle.

Yeah the reason Palermo are in Serie D is because it’s a phoenix club mate. They went in summer.

How they keep going ‘bust’ is a mystery given their history of huge player sales.

    Tax dodge? Ha.
