Another argument that needs to be mapped in, is clubs like mine rely on loan players. But come August we will be playing with a different squad, so if you restart the season in August, it could be deemed unfair, because the teams will have had a change of personnel.

It’d never be a proper win, as you haven’t won it.

Awarding a league title for an incomplete season when the leader wasn’t mathematically over the line, and the rest of the meaningful league positions i.e. the relegation and European spot places. were simultaneously declared null and void - as they’d have to be due to the legal quagmire that’d occur if they weren’t, would be absolute nonsense. Won’t happen either.

Season cancelled. No title for Liverpool, no relegation or promotion.
Last seasons positions used for start of next season in relation to Europe etc...
City banned from Europe so CL spot to fifth which happened to be Arsenal last season.

Only fair way to go forward I can see <whistle>

The more I think about this situation the more concerning it becomes. We took on a player recently John Akinde, who was on absolutely stupid wages at Lincoln, I'm not going to speculate an exact figure, but it was more than any league club with the exception of maybe Sunderland, should ever be paying, even then I would question it. Anyway he took a massive pay-cut to come to us (personal reasons) and he along with a few other players, has reaped good fortune on us. However, he's now being paid for not playing with no further revenue coming into the club for at least a good month. Yeah we've got the season ticket money already, but the turnstyle money and add on's are fooked. This just might be enough to send a few more clubs under or for chairman to say, fook it, I've had enough and pull the plug. Liverpool not getting their silverware is the least of our problems.

The lower leagues rely on gate takings / match day revenue to keep them going. Without any income from now until potentially August and beyond, many will find themselves in trouble. The FA, PL and the Govt need to ensure that cash flow issues caused by this crisis don’t send lower league clubs under.

Woking game just been cancelled. Apparently the opposition didn't want to travel to Woking. Nothing to do with the virus.

It’d be hollow mate. You either win it on the grass or it gets skipped.

The idea that you could be awarded the title, whilst the rest of the league was declared null and void, won’t happen.

As if the league accepts you’ve won (when you haven’t) then the likes of Leicester could rightly claim they ‘deserve’ a CL spot on the same basis, and Leeds and WBA could claim they ‘deserve’ a PL place, as the league would be acknowledging the season by awarding Liverpool the pot.

It’s Kopite wishful thinking I’m afraid.

I agree, they won't give it too us and write the rest off. I've no idea what will happen right now I just have to hope they play the season out in some way.

I can see that happening though. The PL and FA will want to avoid the OUTRAGE from Liverpool fans at all costs. As I said, they'd rather cope with the angst from multiple other clubs than have to deal with the whining coming out of Liverpool Football Club and their fans.

It’s possible they could still play it out, but the idea that could happen as late as August / Sept is also nonsense imo, as it’d not be the same competition due to squad changes in the interim and the massive break.

Pray for a massive heatwave mate.

Nah. The PL decision will be down to the clubs themselves, and they won’t back giving the RS the title whilst leaving themselves open to litigation in the process. Special Dispensation FC won’t get the title unless they win it on the pitch.

I think for all the reasons you have mentioned the PL will push to finish the season behind closed doors. Could even get a further cash bonus from Sky, BT etc.

They’ll defo want it played to a conclusion. I just don’t see how practically that could work in the height of a viral pandemic. Players and staff will continue to become infected in line with the rest of the population. So behind closed doors game make no difference.

I guess that with all the “in-house” medical facilities available to them (particularly in the PL) the hope could be that screening and even self isolation could be easier?
