My eldest sister turned 70 last June. She had stage 3 breast cancer six years ago and underwent surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. Still gets a chest infection every time she gets a cold. I bought her a nebuliser last winter. She's ****ed if she gets this. It's no more lethal than any flu, but she's inoculated each year, and there's no vaccine for this ****er yet.
Why do they have to do that? You could cancel domestic cups for a starter, and international friendlies.
I don’t see players agreeing to essentially play on out of contract with all of the risks that brings, so any potential FIFA waiver is irrelevant imo. As for what happens, the overwhelming desire of the clubs and associations is to see it completed (18 out of 20 PL clubs backed this today). However, the desire to see it completed and the practicalities of this actually happening are two different things. Come April 3rd we’ll likely be where Italy is now, in terms of both cases and restrictions on movement. There’s next to **** all chance that the league will be able to continue at that point, and they admitted as much today. The peak here isn’t expected in 10-14 weeks mate, unless something drastically changes I doubt the new season starting in August is 100% guaranteed, let alone finishing the current one. As for ending with the league positions as they are now, how can you, with all of the relegation / promotion places not completed? You can’t relegate sides from the PL without them being able to control their own destiny by completing the league schedule. It’d be a legal quagmire, and I’d have your pension pot on it not happening mate......
Who have been promoted? Which teams are out of reach for the CL with 27 points left to play for (apart from Liverpool who will still get a CL place anyway)?
It’s 10x more lethal than ‘standard’ winter flu mate. I’m immuno suppressed and I’d likely have a bad time with this one, albeit I’m ****ed if I’m going to allow it to knock me off the perch like
Small stakes, the way this crash is going... I'll be renting out my spare room till I'm 70 like Saxton at this rate. But no, I think any option bar finishing the league off (as indicated by Stone in that article) is unfair on everyone - I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy (not by you) being offered up that the league needs to be terminated now for the good of mankind and his elderly gran with a chest infection - "BUT ONLY IF IT'S DONE THE WAY WE WANT IT".
Could well be but i was listening to some top medico on 5live the other day who reckoned once the temp hits 66f the virus will start to die off because most do. Surely we can expect that kind of temperature at some point in the spring.
It is. The annual death rate from flu is 0.1%, this is running at 1%+ & in the over 80’s it’s around 16% iirc. Mostly men dying as well apparently, and elderly men who smoke are doubly ****ed according to the Italian stats.
Nobody want's the league terminating mate but most can see it happening. If that occurs what do you see as a reasonable solution?
No, I meant about you being ****ed by your auto immune deficiency. Er, but not about being knocked off your perch…
Use a computer. Or don't terminate it. But null and void and musical chairs are equally unviable- a lie to pretend otherwise.
With null and void nobody loses and nobody wins, all are re-set to the start of the season. Anything else is FIFA20 or wishful thinking.
Too true mate, just starting to click and we could get CL next season from any one of two routes. Unfortunately the way things are looking we will be back in the EL if the season is scrapped
So why is the death rate about 0.2% in Germany and 0.1% in all Scandinavian countries - South Korea is also around 0.7%. This is telling us more about respective health systems than about the lethalness of the infection itself. There is no inevitability about any of this - if European countries copied the Korean model of blank early testing (about 20,000 per day) to get people early before they can transmit it to others then there is a way out of this. Nearly all Asian countries have got the peak behind them - if they can do it then we can.
