All this talk of 1-nil wins, clean sheets and entertainment has got me wondering. what do people go to a football match for? To be entertained, or to see your team win? The obvious answer would be both, therefore, it is not an option!
All this talk of 1-nil wins, clean sheets and entertainment has got me wondering. what do people go to a football match for? To be entertained, or to see your team win? The obvious answer would be both, therefore, it is not an option (Sorry for the duplication, forgot to add poll!)
In my opinion, football's changed. The 90 minutes on the pitch used to be the excuse and a minor distraction from the fun and social activity associated with the football day out. Now the 90 minutes of millionaires in shorts kicking a bag of wind about is the be all and end all. I feel quite sorry for the modern football fan.
"......what do people go to a football match for? To be entertained" How long have you been supporting City??? Fans will go no matter what is being served up. Followers are the ones who don't bother going if they have to suffer the embarrassment of seing their side lose week-in-week-out or if the style of play is shyte. The aim of most long standing City fans would surely be to see the Club firmly established where they truly ought to be..... The Premiership. I'll take whatever I can get to achieve that (ALA Stoke City stylee if necessary). Once that is accomplished we can quibble about how attractive the football is. I don't see it as all that bad anyway, it's just that we don't score many. We play some really nice stuff don't we? Goals aren't everything.
Can I just point out that our last game was our best performance of the season, it was entertaining and we did score twice, thanks.
Winning entertains me. Winning "Entertaining" football > Winning Football > Losing "Entertaining" Football > Losing Football If you hold entertaining football above all else, then why not just watch Barcelona every week? I get my fix of watching great entertaining football on the TV. I support Hull City because I became addicted, I now spend a lot of money to worry and stress at games only in hope of that great feeling after a win.
The obvious answer would be "to win", but for me I don't think that's the case. The way we play now, it's a case of "ooh look, a goal went in" then after the one goal of the game you know there's a high chance there won't be any more, and it seems pointless being there. We've had what could be considered a "good start", and yet I just don't care, it's probably down to the boring style of football. So I'd have to say to be entertained, which admittedly seems daft.
A good point about a good, entertaining game; but I am looking forward to the flight that will support that solitary Swallow - maybe it signals our long awaited 'Summer'! Entertaining or winning? We should all want a win; too often I hear folk will accept a draw from games we can win. I prize enetertainment very high as I cannot abide to watch dross; especially when you are aware that there are options - sometimes you have to vote with your feet and football is no exception. Thankfully we are all different and react in our own ways.
Right well first and foremost it's a sport so the objective is to WIN; if we win and entertain as well then great. It's not just the game but also the result and the buzz it gives you in your everyday life. If the team give 100% in my eyes and lose then so be it, they've done all they could. There has been many occasions where a draw has felt like a win & the 4-3 at Old Trafford which made me feel proud. Sometimes you can be part of history or a legendary performance even though the result isn't what you wanted.
Some people complained that we didn't win - Then we started winning. - Now those people complain about the way we win. If we win 6-0 today will those people complain about the length of the players socks? Is the agenda just to complain about anything and more to the point blame the Pearsons for everything?
