I am sure that as I have missed it you can tell me how these unfilled posts are going to be replaced in the next few weeks to take some of the strain off of the existing staff. You say there are alternatives if foreign staff do not come, so what are they?
The UK government's attitude towards the coronavirus now seems to have changed from containment to looking long term when at least 60% of the population has been in contact with it and built up a level of immunity along the way. It appears death to the most vulnerable will be treated as unavoidable collateral damage. Serious stuff.
Nigel Pearson said he cancelled training yesterday after several members of his squad reported feeling unwell this week. The Head Coach said the preparations for the Premier League game against Leicester have been disrupted because of the health of some of his players, one of whom is awaiting results of a test following symptoms associated with coronavirus. He said that the priority remains the “interests of the people who work here and their wider families”. “We are talking about sport versus the well-being of people here,” he added.
He also said I don’t think we had any great leadership last night listening to the prime minister. I was totally underwhelmed by the lack of leadership and clear message in terms of what was said in that press conference. We are trying to be proactive ourselves and hopefully the Premier League will make strong decisions based on what is right for everybody in the game.”
Privately, officials admit very little chance of football resuming as early as Apr 4th so further extension then seems almost certain, unless season is abandoned, but review looks set to happen then if Prem League agree with EFL
It was the only logical decision they could have made with clubs having to shut down. As I said yesterday it would be pressure from below that would make governing bodies and governments take action.
FA: “decision is being made purely on no. of cases requiring self-isolation & impact on facilities..there is no alternative. However, all parties committed at this time to trying to complete this season’s fixture programme & are liaising to establish appropriate options to do so”
Pearson should stay out of politics and concentrate on his day job. I have a picture in my mind of Pearson strangling Boris on the touchline, not good.
He's expressing his opinion on the way the government has handled the coronavirus, and expressing his concern for his players/fans/staff. You can think the government isn't doing something properly without being a crazed remoaner lefty communist.
