Gray and Gayle would have been joining a side just promoted to the Championship, Kalas was joining an established Championship side a few years later. There's your difference. Let it go

If Kalas is on £25k a week I wonder what DeSilva and Palmer are being paid after all they all came from Chelsea, had been all be on loan to us and were all regarded as major signings, surely they can't be far apart.

Gayle wanted more than £25k anyway from memory, not too sure about Gray. It's all irrelevant anyway as times, as well as players and clubs net worth have changed significantly since then.

It's actually laughable the comments Redprintt makes to try and make out LJ is treated differently!

He's treated differently because he's made us competitive in a very competitive 2nd tier of English football for a number of years, more than any manager since Alan Dicks.. Yes being allowed money on players with funds using players sold. this is against most clubs in the championship having parachute payments at some point from the Premiership.

    It must be something in
Exactly, Steve Cotterill definitely got more money than SoD did, but that doesn't suit the narrative of the LJ haters...... Equally, I don't recall seeing one LJ hater acknowledge how much money he has brought in to this club in player sales, they only ever mention his spend!

FACT 1 - LJ has spent more money than any manager in our history
FACT 2 - LJ has recouped in player sales, more money than any manager in our history
FACT 3 - Year on year there is more money given to Championship clubs

No he's not, because if every manager is treated differently, then he's treated the same as the rest!! 2 ways of seeing it!!

Eh???? in the case of City theres a lot of difference between how SL runs the books between managers. LJ not only spends he loses more than other managers. his wage bill is massive v SC. his squad is big, he isnt playing local lads anymore, this is what redprintt I think?? has been getting at. would other been allowed to lose that amount of money well i reckon its nailed on no. so i would agree with redprinttt nothing to do with as thirteen year olds say hating .

1.Yes but without context its virtually meaningless. Terry Cooper? Big signings were Steve Johnson and Alan Walsh. Ten and eighteen grand. Operating losses? Profits were made.
    2. But without context its .. Lee Johnsons wage bill is more than any Manager in BCFC history by a large margin but again here should be context. Operating costs v income? Mr Lansdown services the debts in differing manners. Mr Lansdown continues to turn debt into shares and BCFC/Lee Johnson had to sell players to comply with FFP. The club has still lost either side of fifty million pounds with Lee Johnson in charge.

A few years ago Mr Lansdown openly stated he was embarrassed by how much money BCFC lost. He has doubled those losses since with Lee Johnson.

I think Terry Cooper was treated badly - after all, look at how much LJ has been given to 'play with' compared to him back in the 1980s. Disgaceful favouritism and poor old TC didn't stand a chance. Imagine what Terry could have done with LJs budget.........

It highlights how facile that spending narrative is.

The model of the club should be the context. BCFC is a different entity to the one Mr Lansdown bought into, took over and continues to reframe. The model financially is fundamentally completely different to 2016.

Its development of players, its squad size .. Again significantly different through differing Chairman to its now owner..

Like you say it should be taken in context....Football & times have changed, that includes Bristol City.....It's all relative IMO....BCFC are much more substantial as a club than back in the day.....wages & transfer fees are relevant to our structure. I believe what ever manager takes over from LJ will be given the same funding.
Interest rates are at a all time low, i'm sure that Mr Lansdown knows exactly how to run this business (without embarrassment)
