As suspected from their tour late last year, The Psychedelic Furs have been in the studio, recording their first new material for nearly 30 years. I was still in my 20's when they put out their last album.

There's 1 gig in Europe to launch it - at The Royal Albert Hall. I was late in looking for tickets and it was seats in the gods only, so I'll not be attending...<wah> They're playing the whole album and then a retrospective.

    Here's the first release...

    ...it sounds hopeful.

I'm working in Portsmouth for a couple of days and walked past a charity shop today and saw a box of vynyl, 5 mins later walked out with Talk Talk Laughing Stock , Sleaford Mods, English Tapas and Isaac Hayes Hot Buttered Soul , weird mix but £12 is a bargain

Haven't posted on here for a while. In the meantime, I've seen The Rezillos and Memebers. An excellent night but there's been no footage on youtube, more's the pity.

Tonight, I've been with my daughters and Mrs B to The Electric Ballroom, to see The Sherlocks. It's not quite my thing and they've ****ed my left eardrum by being SO LOUD but it was a great night out with the girls.

Finally, a local venue (to me) is now booking Punk bands. First up is...The Heavy Metal Kids in early April. It's only £10 a ticket and this was a band that really should have been enormous. They had the lot and if you have ever wondered where AC/DC got their act from....you'll like this...

Gary Holton was the only vocalist the Damned have ever had other than Dave Vanian. Okay, it was only 3 gigs in Scotland but to those of us in The Flashman Society, that's a mighty achievement. The singer is currently John Altman, who I'm informed does some acting on a TV programme. He ain't a patch on Gary Holton but it should be a good night out.

Finally, some footage from The Rezillos, over a week ago...

My mate said that it was the worst sound that he'd heard from them and he goes to watch them every time they play in London. However, he's spent most of his adult life in a Ramones tribute act, which must have done some damage to his ears. I reckon that I'm too deaf to pick up any minor issues, so I'm pretty easily pleased, unless things are well off.

The venue's a good one but the bar is waaaaaay too small. It was 6 or 7 deep at times.

This is true of most venues. It makes no sense, as they'd make a lot more money if they could serve people quickly.

Recently have been at The 100 Club and Electric Ballroom, which are great for bars. If you need a drink mid-set, you can be served and back within one number...that's decent.

Didn't bother at 229 The Venue and we got chased out of there pretty damned fast, too.

Did the Members play all the old stuff? I loved their first 2 albums, but I saw them in Dover a couple of years ago and and enjoyed it but other than Sound of The Suburbs, Solitory Confinement and Sally I didn't recognise much, I did buy a couple of their later albums after seeing them but they are not a patch on the old ones.

It was a really brief set but...

They also did Offshore Banking Business, Chelsea Night Club, Working Girl and a surprisingly brilliant version of The Model. I'm normally not a huge fan of that, but on that night, it really did hit the spot. We were stood by the merch stand after they came off stage and got to see them really close up. Without being on stage, with their instruments and doing their thing, they look older...quite a lot older. <wah>

Still, on stage doing their ****, it still sounds like it should and we're all young again.
