About time the buck stopped at Levy...but it never seems to.

His football mentality is a massive hinderence to this club

What I’m looking forward to (not looking forward to) is the day where the fallout becomes very apparent. I just can’t see Mourinho biting his lip in front of the press or not moaning for any significant period of time. I’m amazed it’s lasted this long to be honest, and the cracks are starting to appear.
A massive fallout between Mourinho and Levy is surely just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off?
In my mind they are two of the worst personalities to be married up at a football club. With that in mind, it amazes me that Levy employed him. Then again, I guess Mourinho’s inevitable attitude and demeanour is another easy way out for Levy taking any blame. (Or so he probably thinks).

I’m with you on this PNP. I think we need a fullback for each side, a CB, a DM, and a backup striker. We probably also need a new keeper. That’s 5 first team players needed, and a backup. It’s a lot of work.

Whoever was managing us at this point would have needed a rebuild so I don’t think it’s fair to label this as a Mourinho-induced spend. We will know after this summer if Levy and ENIC really want this club to move forward or if they’re only interested in milking the stadium and the fans dry.

I agree re squad changes/additions.
However, do we really need ANOTHER summer to work out whether levy and Enic want this club to move forward on the pitch? How many disappointing windows have there been previously? Yet somehow “levy time” still exists somewhere in fans minds. How does the man do it?!

You’re not wrong. And the question marks have been there for a while. I know there’s a lot of debate on this board and all over the shop about ENIC in/out. Last summer we saw some classic Levy activity as well as us going all out for long term targets so it’s hard to draw any conclusions. I’ve been cautiously supportive of them over the years but if they can’t pull the trigger on the overhaul after a full season in the new stadium and with the need so apparent then for me time will have to be up.

Those who defend our Portuguese overlord regularly say that his decisions are done to shut people up who think they know better, for example his handling of Parrott, because if Parrott was any good he'd play him...which obviously means Rory Allen and Neale Fenn were good as Gerry Francis played them when we had a striker injury crisis

However, these same people were the ones demanding he be hired when things started to wobble under Poch, so by their logic wouldn't that make him being hired Levy shutting up those who think they know how to run a football club better than they do?

And there's already a theory doing the rounds that Joao Sacramento is the guy Levy actually wants managing the club, but as going from Poch to Sacramento would have seen the torches and pitchforks brought out again he brought in a Big Name as a buffer...

i admire your positivity mate, and I can see why your holding out on 1 more window. - however that window is looking like the first one in a long time where we won’t have CL football. Levy has already come out and said how this will subsequently affect transfers.

And I understand why others don’t share my views. I’ve seen Levy’s comments. But if we don’t invest this summer I can see this going South fast, particularly with this manager. We can have a blip if we spend through it for a year. It’s a gamble but one we can surely afford for a year. If we didn’t make it next summer then I’d understand a more thrifty approach. But we risk falling off badly if we don’t overhaul this summer.

Mourinho's already had a couple of dips at it. There's been the 'I wish it was July already' and 'I shall ask the board to tell me which game to throw' episodes.

Notably, he's followed that **** up with a VERY bullish press conference before last night's 'performance'. I would rightly expect that he's had his chain yanked by Levy, to remind him that he's earning £1m a month to manage the team and that our fans are paying enormous prices to watch what he's serving up. Chucking it in ISN'T and option for any manager and I'd have sacked him for it.

However, Mourinho has almost no self-control when he starts losing it. From poking opposition management in the eye, to digging out his own medical team for treating a head injury, he'll flip again and it won't take long for it to happen.

I'm not letting Levy off the hook for this. No other club of our stature would have gone anywhere near Mourinho.

Quite shocking really considering he makes the decisions at our club

makes his decisions, half arsed back up of the manager then throws him under the bus when things go pear shaped.

Everyone still goes on about Martin Jol...everyone has forgotten the manner in Which he was sacked by Teflon Levy <laugh>

What measures do you think a club owner should be held to account for? ENIC do well on almost all sensible ones.
They have more long-term ambition than almost any other PL owner, particularly considering where they started from.
That's not to say they have not made mistakes. Lots of them, but almost everyone else has made more.

What is scarie is,if Spurs keep the same players for next season,we could finish up relegated. Our defence has more holes than a red light district!

I think we can tell as fans when the owner backs the manager

For once in ENICs life...just give the manager what he needs, to do what he has to, for the forthcoming season. Im not bothered about spending the most, it’s not about that at all. He has zero smart in the TW.

As for ENICs property development...I give them 10/10. Even then if I want to be Uber critical...Levy didnt design it, build it and certainly failed to deliver it on time. He did a great job of finding the funds. It went over budget so he makes the team suffer? Not good enough...owners need to dip into their own pockets. They purchased us for about 20/25 mill...they’ve got their money back.

About time he found the funds for the very reason I follow this team..to watch developments on the pitch.

I recall yourself saying we should have around £100 mill to spend per window once the stadium is up and running, all Maths done. That’s 100 mill on top of what we generate from sales...I’m waiting.

Surely,surely,SURELY!....there must be hungry players in the lower leagues as good as our present defenders who won't cost Daniel an arm and a leg?

Of course there are, but telling which ones is the tricky bit. The difference between the 80th best player in the world and the 120th is not visible to any scout or any analysis. What we need are the players around 21 years old who look average now but who are going to be in the top 20 when they are 25 years old.

But how do you do that within the FFP regulations?

Be smart...once again..it’s not about spending the most. So much more than what we spend comes through TV revenue, sponsors and all the gimmicks in the new stadium.

e.g
Did FFP scupper the Grealish deal? Or was it Levy’s derogatory offer?
Was the Bruno deal possible with some smart thinking? Of course it was

He talks about us like we are Ajax ‘we don’t buy stars we make them’

Levy hasnt got a clue about the football...he can’t even hire the right people to do the bidding for him, he’s useless for the development of the team.

There are players that turn up for Lesta every week that cost relative peanuts and players we had all highlighted in the last few years and most of the Not606 Spurs board identified them years ago for the talent they show today

That’s how poor Levy is with his Football knowledge

In two lines you just spent £70m. You have to say where you would have raised that. Anyway individual errors are inevitable, the only thing that matters is whether we are better than the rest. As I keep pointing out only two clubs have ever consistently broken into the original Sky 4. Us and Man City. They spent about half a billion more than us and that bought success. But they are now disqualified for cheating. If you want to find us a Chairman who can do better....good luck!

Levy DOES NOT choose who we sign or how much we pay for individuals. He sets a budget and leads the negotiations. If we didn't sign particular players that's down to Poch.

So not only was the result a trainwreck, but apparently there was one involving Dele, Lo Celso and Lamela that saw them compacted into a three foot space on the pitch

And surely it can't be right that Tanganga never passed to Aurier or Winks?

This is one of the problems that we have as fans. We don't know why we failed to strengthen the squad, exactly.
There are rumours that we had money to spend and could agree deals, but Pochettino didn't want those players.
Is that true? Was he right to turn down these anonymous signings? We've got no idea.
