Would be ****, but what about the clubs who have massive financial impacts depending on where they finish. Teams fighting for relegation and those hoping to come up. Even Leicester, wolves and Sheffield utd have a chance at champions league qualification.
So people are saying that Pool would get the title anyway. I get the logic because they are killing it. However you can’t apply that logic to the European spots below and the relegation battle with 9 games and 27 points to play for. Therefore if teams miss out on Europe based on projection or get relegated based on projection, their will be uproar and rightly so. You can’t apply different rules to different sections of the league table...so how would this be solved?
Spot on. Do you think they'll play at least 2 more games for it to be mathematically impossible to catch Livpl and then use that as an excuse to overcome the point you've made about top 4 and relegation? The cynic in me suggests quite possibly. Btw in the event the league is cancelled what happens to Top 4 and relegations according to the rules?
Not only that but clubs lower down the pyramid (outside of PL) rely on matchday income to survive. Would hope something is put in place for those clubs.
Now that the virus has made its way into Westminster, and (likely) into footballers, via the Forest owner, I think we may see an escalation of things. I do think this weekend will be the last weekend of this PL season, and it should be to be honest. Public health needs to be prioritised over sports events.
Serie A are considering play offs or finishing with current standings. Can you imagine the legal challenges if a club was relegated without playing 38 games?
Only worth it if we're shutting down public transport, schools etc as well. Completely ****ing pointless otherwise.
You're right That's what they would do...I can see 2 more games getting squeezed out before we go full Italy
The thing that worries me is the impact on people's incomes. Not everyone is PAYE. Many are self-employed or on Zero Hour contracts. We have a number of very good supply teachers. They will earn fck all and be entitled to no sick pay, if schools are closed. There will be many businesses and public sector workers who will be hit by this. I hope some contingency plan is put in place to support them financially.
I don't think we'll make the Liverpool Palace game. Full postponement by then. Next season will be a farce too. Not just this one. Jose in/out for next year? Also, is our bet invalidated if the season does not finish? Who finishes higher 2019/20?
obviously it’s invalidated due to the ‘Act Of God’ clause Jose deserves a pre season and TW...I’m struggling to judge him properly up until then. It’s not been great but that s because our squad is not great
I think we just bet who would finish higher this season. Not whether the season would finish! Anyway, mind the gap
I think if people are dying then football/sport really is just a non-topic, Liverpool and anybody else hoping to celebrate should STFU and wind their necks in. Next year can be their year.
Id just announce it over now on the grounds Liverpool completely molested the league and the bottom three are cakadoodoo dog **** and no one likes them anyway. Just my 2 cents.
Aren't we supposed to be adjusting the league seasons in preparation for the Qatar world cup no one wants. So any delay or shifts in this season and competitions could be big problem
