Asked directly about United̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s interest on Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Reina dropped a massive hint that it could happen. He said: ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅYes, well van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking. I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t do anything. I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool. Of course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâàINTERESTING
Liverpool won't sell to us but I'd like us to put in a bid anyway, just to unsettle him a bit and maybe force Liverpool to sell to someone else.
Tbh all of the highly rated keepers about at the minute have frailties in their games and there are no guarantess that any of them will be unqualified successes. I think we'll go for Stekelenberg and he did nook decent in the world cup. Akinfeev is impressive but a little on the short side and not the most commanding. Not convinced by Neuer or Lloris tbh.
Reina would be an adequate replacement, but I'd prefer someone younger and wiuth more potential. Also I doubt we'd get him from Liverpool unless we offered stupid money. I'd prefer Akinfeev - he's only an inch shorter than Reina and Lloris and has looked solid every time I've seen him. His only problem was a failure to close down strikers properly when rushing out, but he's largely solved that now. I'm more optimistic about the rumours of us signing Mascherano in the summer. He could be just what our midfield needs, particularly if he can form a good partnership with Anderson or Fletcher. Would also give us a solid defensive option for European away games, and should help us keep the ball better away from home. What does everyone else think?
