That was the headline, and as you say not looking to implement anything anytime soon, it was more to be investigated and looked into the possibility of looking at different options not just 32 hours in four days, which seems reasonable if you consider the amount of hours lost to stress and work related mental conditions. The media just picked a point that they thought would enrage people against Corbyn the most. I certainly don't do more than 32 hours a week and get paid well enough because I do the job required... and exceed expectations

Do you not think that the same point could be used about all of the anti Corbyn stuff? I think Corbyn's biggest failing of which he has several, is that he hasn't stood up and straight up called out what the media has pushed his public image to be. The big two him being a terrorist sympathiser and anti semetic. Both massively inaccurate and without reasoned foundation, the one big thing I have admitted to many a time however is Corbyn's failings to address his parties public issues with anti semitism.... I do find it strange however the low coverage of allegations against the Tory's for accusations of bigotry, which per member is far and away higher, this is not to say Corbyn has any excuse.

I thoroughly appreciate your critique of the Tory's it's refreshing to see and I just wish more Tory supporters would be so honest and not just ignore these failings which seems to happen way too often, obviously I would go way further but that is why we will not be putting our x's in the same box on a ballot paper, but I can certainly respect your opinions as put across in your post.

There is certainly hours lost to stress and work related mental conditions, but thats probably due to:

- overworking employees who are probably doing a lot of unpaid overtime
- people struggling on their salaries
- unhealthy working environments

probably put it more down to that than a 40 hour week.

still though, you are talking about the 32 hour week and that is what corbyns consultations/ultimate plans were about.

People have short memories... It was Labour that broke this country and left the incoming Tories with no money.
That stupid (disgusting) note that was left at the treasury sums up how Labour operate. Moreover it demonstrates what they actually think of people... yes the poor.
Rather than choose a leader that was decent they brought in the unelectable Corbyn and his fantasy policies (free broadband ). His problems with Jews and terrorist date back many years. His shadow cabinet was something out of the Muppet Show. The whole set up was doomed to fail.... yet some fell for it . Now Labour will elect another loser and will probably be out of power for 10-15+ (even if the Tories @@@@ up).
People just like to bash the Tories because it comes from the Brexit vote and the fact that the Labour party is unelectable. As you said rather than bash the Tories sort out your own party (which by the way they can't).
To this day I still cant believe how anyone could have been stupid enough to have voted for Corbyn. It was so obvious that he would get a kicking at the election. And I have read on here that Tory voters are supposed to be thick?
Some people talk a good game but actually can't see the forest for the trees.

And yes working under the norm hours certainly doesn't apply to every working environment. I'd also agree on your other three points being major contributing factors, however I don't think he was suggesting the 32 hour week would cure all ills but rather something worth looking into and there is analytical and medical backing that could be beneficial to productivity as well as the workers well being.

 

Why the **** are people on here still banging on about Corbyn? We have good old, funny old, drunken old, Boris the lying shagger for a few years now, let's see how gets on and how the new Leader of the Opposition performs.

 

Because sadly like any honourable person who would have stepped down immediately after the most humiliating election.... he is lingering on trying to get a place in the next shadow cabinet. For the sake of a decent opposition he needs to F'off.

I must say if I lived in a flood-hit area and either Boris or Jezza knocked on my door I'd hold their head under the water. For decades both Tory and Labour governments have allowed building in massive scale on flood plains and failed to properly maintain rivers by dredging etc. I can remember back in the 70s a workmate who commuted into London from his new Barratt home in Sittingbourne, the 2nd year he lived there he was flooded out and there are similar stories from others I have known down the years in Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. Those areas are not as badly hit as the Severn and Avon regions but the lack of attention to these problems over the years is coming home to roost now, it's a problem that won't be going away...

Thousands of houses built on flood plains. Utter madness.
Climate change is obviously playing a part in the floods we're seeing, but the amount of ground being covered in concrete should not be underestimated as a big factor.

Britain’s humanitarian assistance programme may be politicised, critics of the change said
Boris Johnson has secretly moved to strip the Department for International Development of its power to determine how the overseas aid budget is spent, The Times has learnt.

In a move that critics claim will politicise Britain’s humanitarian assistance programme, senior managers at Dfid have been told that their staff working overseas will report directly to the Foreign Office.

Country directors, responsible for allocating British aid to regional projects, answer directly to Dfid in London at present. But in a memo to senior staff Downing Street said that in future they would have to report to the British ambassador in each country instead, allowing the Foreign Office to influence local aid spending.
