I agree with your second paragraph, but my feelings haven’t changed regarding mourinho, and I made this clear when he was appointed.
He’s just past it IMO. See United days.
Giving him money is the last thing we should be doing. He was given that at United and they were still ****. We’ll be in an even worse state and the financial outlay required will cause a massive knock on effect when it inevitably goes wrong.
I didn’t think it’d get bad/negative this quickly, but caught between a rock and a hard place here.
    The decline is staggering.

regarding the decline...why isn’t the brunt of people’s issues aimed at Levy?

If their is a financial knock on affect...who’s to blame?

I blame Vorm more than Jose for last night anyway....one brainfart away from qualifying. People need to man up and take the blame or blame the right people.

Maybe we need to accept that we are not as good as we think we are. Everyone used to churn out how we are ‘punching above our weight’...now we punching in the right weight category it seems that’s all and people seem to be struggling to digest that

The rebuild is messy made even worse thanks to Levy/ENIC procrastinating with on field matters

too much short termism from our fans all of a sudden which is a shocker considering most were in turmoil and tears that Poch didn’t get an extension to his 5 years of which the last year and a bit were dogshit football anyway.

Jose is on a free pass this season from me...Levy/ENIC are not...their 5 year plan is up...most seem to have forgotten and are pandering for another big project, not me...time for ENIC to deliver or consider ****ing off and give someone else a go.

Meanwhile the FA are breathing a sigh of relief that it wasn't a black player that steamed into the crowd (for reasons unknown...)

Let me see. You are coming onto our board - onto a thread about a match that your team did not participate in - and criticising a fan for supporting their team. And the point is?

Unfortunately it's the modern day fan.... Moving to a new stadium with loads of fairweather corporate fans wont wont either.

Dare i say you guys are emulating arsenal exactly. New stadium, contracts run down, toxic fan atmosphere, sacking if a legend (poch) and hiring of maybe an unsuitable manager.

Oh and. Most expensive season tickets

I’m not condoning it but you can’t be storming into the stands because someone was nasty to your brother.
Yeah things haven’t been right for well over a year, in a way the Champions League run last year hindered the club because it covered too many cracks.

This season I can see Spurs finished 11th or 12th and as bad as that is, hopefully it will show that drastic things need to be done if they don’t want to return to the gloomy days of the 90s where Spurs were just a nothing side.

    Legend?

    He won **** all

I think that’s more the point

our standards on the pitch have declined

Don’t get me wrong...he was great and played his role in our development but we have been there and better before in our history so this isn’t like one of them score a goal against a top team in a cup game to knock them out and become an instant legend kind of thing...we are not that small...we just acting small thanks to the owners having no real interest in the team aspect of things

Mourinho picked him. That one's on the manager. Vorm hadn't played a game for about 18 months.

don’t you think that save was bread and butter even in training?

To parry it out back into danger instead of swallowing it into the midriff...that’s so basic and comes down to his own education.

Had he not created his own brainfart we would not have questioned Vorms inclusion...he was fine the rest of the game. The odd scared moment but all our keepers provide us with them.

I agree though...in hindsight...I don’t think Gazza would have spilled that but we will never know.

I questioned Vorm's inclusion before the match. It was totally unnecessary and Gazzaniga is good at saving penalties.
Why pick a keeper that hasn't played for 18 months and who we let go in the summer, unless you absolutely have to?
He spilled one in the first half, then dropped it for their goal. He had a poor game.

I didn't think that Vertonghen at left-back was a good choice either, but he played well.
Skipp's selection was a big plus for me and I hope he gets more chances.
What really ****ed us was the tactics. The team selection was secondary.

As we saw against Wolves, we started well, took the lead and then tried to sit on it and see it out.
We're not capable of doing that with the current squad.
Whenever we got on the ball and attacked them we looked like the far better team and caused them problems.
That only happened for about half an hour in normal time, though. It's stupid.

I more or less agree with all of this but this is why I believe the manager needs backing. Two managers have failed to produce any exciting brand of football for about 14-15 months now, a couple of decent games here and there but by large we've been horrific to watch. The common denominator for me is simply the players, on paper we shouldn't be this bad but something has gone horrifically wrong. As I've said a few times now, I've come to hate my own players and I really mean that mate, I hate so many of them it's crazy, supposedly top players earning top money and they're putting in cannon fodder performances.

Jose may not have the most exciting of styles but even he won't be enjoying this either and I want him to get his own players in and ideally create a decent enough brand of counter attacking football that can deliver results. I don't expect champagne footy like Pep's City side but just a sign of a solid system that can get results will do me fine.

The decline is staggering but it's not on Jose. Both he and Poch have failed to deliver any good brand of football here since around December 2018. These players have downed tools and that's the be all and end all.

Jose ****ed up massively with the Vorm selection but in general his hands are tied with this squad. They're a bunch of failures and ****ers who are stealing a living.

He even gave Troy Parrott 25 minutes against a shattered Norwich and despite the kid running about he done nothing. I won't blame him for missing the penalty, it was massively telegraphed but he's 18 and had the bottle to take it but when Jose says the guy isn't ready I think fans really need to listen to him. We've seen so many on here and social media lose their **** at his lack of inclusion, last night was a perfect opportunity for him to do something and he looked well, well out of place. Just like Harry Kane did before him, he needs a loan or two lower down the leagues.

I hope Jose gets sufficient funds, contrary to what some say I don't think he is past it, even at Utd he still won things and finished second, his brand of football isn't always the most eye-watering but it generally delivers results when he has the right players and that's what I want him to have the chance of doing.

This mess is all on Levy and it's down to Levy to rectify it. You don't hire Jose Mourinho with the intention not to spend money. Time for Levy to put up or **** off.

We can't play on the counter, though. We don't have the players to protect the defence and we're prevented from breaking.
How many times have we seen teams City the **** out of us recently?
They attack, we win the ball and get it to someone dangerous and they instantly foul him and don't get a card.
It happened numerous times last night and the first time that one of our lot did it he went straight in the book.

We have to adjust to the circumstances and we can't play that style of football.
We should just pack the midfield, protect the back four and play a possession game.
Run the opposition into the ground and make them work their arses off for anything.

Parrott was overdoing things to try and prove a point, but it did the opposite.
He was running about like a lunatic, rather than just playing his game, staying up front and trying to score goals.
Whether that's immaturity or having been told that he's not ready remains to be seen.

I don't think we can play a possession game though, I don't think we can actually play anything at the moment. Poch liked the possession game and that got us nowhere during the last year.

The players have downed tools, we could try playing possession, counter attack, route one... It just won't pay off. The players are 'dead', they have nothing to give any more and it feels like they've all been found out. Dele Alli looks like he really did come from League One, Lucas works hard but has zero end product, Winks is shocking and the sooner fans and manager realise the better, the defence can't defend to save their lives although ironically last night they done okay but Vorm went and spilled a sitter and so without any legitimate goal threat either, I don't think any system will produce results until we get some fresh personnel, especially at the back.

Alli needs to play off a striker. We don't have one.
Mourinho used him in that role when he first joined, it worked, then he stopped doing it.
Lucas needs to play on the right and have someone in the middle to draw runs and give him an option. We don't have that.
Winks is playing well with no support. You just hate him.

He played like a young kid, like someone who's just turned 18 and is getting only their second proper chance in a first team game.

Jose said the guy isn't ready and I firmly believe him. Just like Harry Kane wasn't ready when he was 18.

Square that and we might have had a reasonable chance of sitting back for the last half hour without ****ing it up

    This...

...and he'll play exactly the same in every game until we get rid of him...and it'll never work.
