    No surprises there!

I do think, though, that all 'snowflakes' are not millennials!

    Many are just older wimps/BGBs

I like treacle and I’m offended that people say it’s thick

    Neither are all millennials thick.

A more accurate headline would have been "Lots of people are thick"

OR, It appears that an increasing number of people are thick and wish to blame the whole world and its family for problems (often) of their own making.

How is their ignorance of historical fact symptomatic of a desire to blame other people for their problems? You and the article are conflating normal stupidity with snowflakery and the two don't necessarily go together.

As for the frozen crystalline precipitation issue, I think its more a case that an increasing number of people are aware that they have 'rights' but miss the point that in addition to those rights, they have responsibilities, and that other people also have rights. This is compounded by the fact that people seem to enjoy finding offence, both on their own and other people's behalves, in just about everything, even when there isn't any offence intended. The issue is then exacerbated by people lacking compassion and assuming that anyone who makes any kind of complaint, legitimate or otherwise, is simply whining for whining's sake.

Good god, do you always attempt to lecture posters that reply to you?

In future, I'll bear that in mind and give you a lengthy response rather than a precised version.

Who's lecturing? You're allowed to write what you think about the news article that you posted and, as you often do, about the perceived lack of backbone in society. Why can't I? It is my right, after all :emoticon-0105-wink:

Of course it is, but you attempted to attribute the views of the Daily Star to me.

Maybe you should comprehend (or attempt to) what has been written before jumping in with both feet!

Oh don't be silly. You posted an article that said that snowflakes are thick because they don't know about WWII. I replied to that saying that lots of people are thick (because there are plenty of people that don't know enough about such matters but aren't necessarily snowflakes). And you carried on with the snowflake theme, so you are therefore running with the views expressed in the original article.

I would strongly recommend that you only ever attempt to talk for yourself, as do I.

Ignoring the word 'snowflake' as it seems to have a number of definitions, the underlying point SEEMS to be the poor level of general knowledge in the 'younger generation'.

    It was ever thus.

I recall that many years ago The Sunday Post sent a reporter to Trafalgar Square armed with some simple questions.
One was 'what river runs through Newcastle' .
My favourite reply was, The Seine.

Then there is this quote. ----

“The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority, they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

It's claimed to be from Socrates, who live 470 to 399 BC.

As I said, it was ever thusn b
ut if I may I'd like to add that as well as ever present problems with youths, we shouldn't forget that miserable old sods have also been a fixture in society, forever criticising them and forgetting that once they were young.
Personally I find that the youth of today is much the same as those of my youth.
Some good, some bad, most canny enough.

It's the middle aged members of The PC Brigade that I can't stand because they SHOULD by now have more common sense.

The level of stupidity amongst the general population must not be underestimated. I don't do Faecesbook but somebody from the Wearside area posted a newspaper article headlined "Hendon man stabbed" and commented how disgraceful this was happening in Sunderland. Thousands of people regurgitated this to their "friends" in cyber land who also said how disgusting it was that it's happening in our town etc. NONE of them read the article from the LONDON EVENING STANDARD. If they did they would have noticed that the stabbing was in Hendon, NW London. It no longer surprises me that Boris Johnson has been elected as our prime minister.

I once read about a married man with 4 children who's wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Whilst undergoing treatment for that cancer the married man had an affair resulting in a child to his bit on the side. Not content with that he then left his wife during the cancer treatment for another woman, whom he also impregnated, the Police were called to his house because of a drunken row with this new fancy woman. He is still married to his wife who is seeking a divorce on the grounds of adultery. The same man has been sacked by two newspapers for writing articles containing outright lies. He was also investigated by Police for conspiring to have a man beaten up by thugs. I will not mention that man's name but will leave people to draw their own conclusions as to the character of the man.
