Yeah that’s so true, Wanyama of that first season would be absolutely perfect for us and Jose. Him supporting Lo Celso and a fit Ndombele would be the perfect balance in a midfield three. We’re just not allowed nice things! Hopefully though by getting rid of Wanyama, plus the fact Jose’s comments on Dier’s future (position) were a bit vague, it may be a sign that a DM is certainly a priority in the summer which would be great.
one of the best tweets to ever grace the Internet. The fact our social media team played on it made it so much better.
2 DM are needed as knowing Spurs, whoever is signed will suddenly become injury prone and then hardly be available.
So somebody with more time on their hands than me has written a couple of blogs about the DM we need to be signing Part One Denis Zakaria, A German Team Florentino Luis, Benfica Ibrahima Sangare, Toulouse Part Two Kalvin Phillips, Leeds Florian Grillitsch, Hoffenheim
I’d hope Skipp can be the other. Despite not being given a chance yet, Jose has spoken very highly of him and thinks he’ll be a big player for us so if he really means it he’ll be utilised far more next season, ideally getting a chance this season - starting with tonight!
Reports in Germany saying Dortmund will sign Jude Bellingham in the summer for £35m and that he’s already agreed terms. They are literally a magnet for the best upcoming talent in Europe.
I don’t know but hopefully the club have their scouts all over the place looking for someone in the price range they can afford who ticks all the boxes. Other clubs have found gems so no reason why Spurs can’t
Zakaria is the obvious candidate who ticks all the boxes, but he's surely going to be subject of a transfer auction sooner rather than later, and with two years left on his contract A German Team will have some breathing room when it comes to saying how much they want for him, especially with the Euros around the corner, which might nudge us towards Soumare instead The most obvious question is what formation we intend to use next season, because if we play 433 we might need to sign a second player as well considering Sissoko won't be able to maintain his energy for much longer, and while a trio of NEW DM alongside two of Lo Celso, Winks and Ndombele would work, having someone in the Sissoko role is necessary and that's where a Grillitsch or Kessie comes into it
I think that the Hojbjerg rumours are likely to have something to them. He's got 'Levy signing' written all over him. like Big Vic and Trippier.
I wonder what terms they'd be offering him? If he's on top money with guaranteed football in a league that suits young talent and a low 'buy out clause' he'd be crazy not to take it. It ****s the game over no end, as it could very well become the norm and only serves to strengthen players further. . Right now, it's giving Dortmund a distinct advantage.
Yeah I’d imagine a quick route into the first team would be what sways it, he only has to look at Sancho/ Haaland/ Akanji plus Dembele before them all and see Dortmund will give him game time. Top club, CL football, decent shot of a trophy and regular minutes - no brainer. I quite like their ways of operation. We’re usually a club who likes young talent but Dortmund target the creme de la creme of prospects and it serves them well going forward. They made £90m from Dembele a couple years ago and he only had one season there, god knows what they’ll get when they eventually sell Sancho.
They know Sancho is off in the summer and the fee will be huge so they’re smart to get players in before everyone knows they have money to burn.
I still think Hojberg is planned for the Sissoko role of a defense-minded CM, rather than an out-and-out DM Of course this is based on expecting us to play 433 next season...
Hojberg would be an excellent addition for us. Intelligent, technically proficient player. Dortmund are interesting because they seem to either sell their best players for big money or they leave on a free. Given the dynamics of the PL vs the Bundesliga, I don’t think it would work for us. But it makes them a very attractive club to join for sure. I think the exodus of young British (or British-trained) talent to Germany is interesting. Certainly beneficial for them. Much as our youth system is a bit ****ed right now, it makes you wonder about the general state of the league in that regard.
