Catholic family, Catholic primary school, catholic secondary school.

    Atheist over here.

It's strange though, I still identify as a Catholic. And I feel some kinship with the others even though I essentially think they're chatting ****.

Yes but does it? Doesn’t matter what it is meant to do...I live as I see.

End of the day...unless you’re raised in a God conscious house...you are raised without the firm belief of a God and you will grow up with that belief and not be as open minded as the term Agnostic might suggest. Then you will have the task of getting rid of that thought and coming to term with your own conflicts because your parents never introduced the possibility of a God at all.

Why not teach your kids about God and all the faiths then let them choose if they like that infrastructure or they prefer to live without a faith? Because we know that’s not how it works...they would grow up curious as anything about God and they would eventually choose a faith.

Oh and I sold housing insurance. Well, I didn't sell it, I managed the construction company accounts. Made sure they were being inspected and paid and then I'd release the insurance paperwork to them upon completion.

I dealt with Persimmon Homes Wales, South West and Scotland. And I would essentially have to explain again and Again they weren't covered for ****. Structural integrity is assured if the house is literally not on the brink of collapse.

So yes, we sold toilet paper for a few grand a page.

We do teach kids about faith. In school.

As part of a multi-cultural society hopefully people are mingling with people from all walks of life, but that's not always the case.

    Maybe..not Everyone is the same.

However the initial point between Sucky and myself still rings true for me

if you are raised with no faith...then you are being raised with the indoctrination that their is no God. I don’t buy for 1 second this bullshit that if you are raised with no faith...you grow up with a free open mind to make your own choices. That’s rubbish...you’ve had 18 plus years of being told one thing then told to make your own conclusions?

    doesn’t work like that

Not talking about schools...talking about parents at home.

for me the schools don’t represent me and my beliefs...that’s my job to teach my children

I get that, you have to be taught something so where do those rules come from? That's the first question of a child who is self aware. If there's no religion then where do the rules come from and who decides them? Policy other than faith scares me.

At the end of the day, it's all about the individual and their own desire to explore these ideas. You have to find your own personal connection with your spirituality, otherwise it all just seems like indoctrination, religious or atheist.

Personally, although I don't follow any particular religion I consider myself to be a spiritual person, I just have a different framework to contextualise it all. I talk to my daughter about the idea of God and I talk to her about different religions, we watch stuff on youtube about Diwali, Ramadan, Hanukkah, just yesterday we were watching a cartoon about Bhasmasura and Hindu celebrations. I'd like her to have a well rounded view of religion, so that she can make her own informed choices.

I would never tell her what she must think or believe though, as at the end of the day, they are just ideas, a way of making sense of the world.

We had one dickhead from Dunraven sit with us for ages after measuring up trying to get us to buy there and then. Kept knocking money off and wouldn't accept that we needed to think about it and get other quotes. When he said that the offer expires when he leaves I basically told him to **** off.
