No, look at city last season, unstoppable, went into this season the same, suddenly teams have worked out how to play against them. I'm not saying every team is capable, but the tactical blueprint is there. Keep our fullbacks back and we become much less effective, worryingly weseem to have no way of changing it if it works. This isnt even about this game considering we didn't play many of the first team, but in general its definitely something missing from our game.
Come on guys, the PL has been your holy grail, you won the CL last season, and who gives a **** about the FA Cup, when you have the big one to pick up in a few weeks. You have been **** of late though, I will admit, maybe a bit of burnout, you weren't gonna keep up that level of results all season any way. Enjoy your league win and kick on next season. I just hope we can win the FA Cup, be nice for our youngsters to grab a trophy early on in their careers and get the winning mentality!
I don't particularly care for the FA cup, but our lack of commitment and complete complacency in recent games is worrying. Just gone on holiday already. Don't think we would win the league unbeaten as we have away at City to go, but we are throwing everything else away.
Pissed off doesn't cover it... ... and that's the reason! Poor performance yes, but the tone was set with the team selection. The leagues won ffs, why rest players? Especially when they've been poor recently and need game time to refind that form! If we don't overturn the 1-0 deficit against A.Madrid, the season is over. PS... yes, I realise I'm grumbling when we've finally won the league after almost thirty years
As you say, the leagues already won so we can rest players in the dead rubbers that are inevitably coming. We should have gone all out for this trophy too!
It is not grumbling. Given our league position and buffer, we were in a great position to focus on cups and we could be out of both within a week. It would mean the next 2 months are a damp squib
Personally not arsed about the cup but I agree more of the first team should have played, not least to try and get some sort of form back. If we still had any competition in the league it would be a different matter, but it's done, just waiting for the announcement. The excitement has come and gone to a certain extent.
I was far angrier with that than the 3-0 loss to Watford. It was there for the taking and we just chose not to go for it.
If we were still fighting in the league I'd have wanted us to sack it off. We aren't, we've already won it!
Well that was a game of two halves - and we were garbage in both of them. Three losses out of four, and we haven't scored in three of them. The Emperor's new Clothes? Have we been found out? Seriously - Bournemouth, Saturday lunchtime (when we normally struggle); are we going to eek out these four wins? We seem unable to pass the ball five yards to another red shirt atm. When do we play Athletico?
Truly don't understand tonight's line-up. Yes, drop Lovren (I'd have dropped Virgil too had he not been captain). Drop Fab and play Milner there. But the front three? They don't play until Saturday. Truly odd. Maybe Jurgen's worried about Bournemouth too.
Nope. I was immediately after the first leg but we've just dropped ****e; almost as bad as Man Utd atm
I thought the reaction after Watford was ridiculous. Im not that bothered by the performance tonight bar the 'not arsed' effort of some seniors, I just pissed off at the team selection. Clearly said we weren't bothered about the cup.
We haven't been serious about the domestic cups for a long time. It's a shame that the magic of the cup has evaporated (for some at least), but I've long since resigned myself to it.
That said, I thought Mini was bright in the first half. Did nothing in the second. Mane looks like he's carrying the team on his shoulders. And for all his flicks and feints, lala seems unable to get the weight of a five yard pass right when he's under pressure. Not good that for somebody wanting to play in midfield.
