The rumour is going about that LJ dropped Bentley through lack of form, here LJ states the reason was through injury substained on the previous Tuesday and I for one find the statement quite plausible, I 100% believe him.

'Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has revealed that goalkeeper Dan Bentley missed his side’s 1-1 draw with Millwall as a result of the injury he suffered during Tuesday night’s defeat to Huddersfield.

After the game attention to why Johnson had made the call to start with Niki Maenpaa between the sticks ahead of Bentley.
Speaking to Bristol Live, Johnson confirmed that Bentley’s absence was due to the groin injury he sustained during the week, and the Robins’ first-choice goalkeeper was eventually deemed unfit to play this weekend following Friday’s training session.

“Bentley picked up a groin niggle in the Tuesday game so we tried him yesterday: he could kick it only up to the halfway line and do everything else,” Johnson said.

“I did contemplate having him on the bench but if he had come on at two minutes then someone would have had to kick for him so that isn’t ideal. It was better served to go with Niki and Jojo [Wollacott].”

    The Question ~
    * Johnson was quizzed on the reasoning behind the grand total of 87 changes he has made to his side this term.
    The Answers ~
*“The starting point is that you won’t believe what’s happened to us this year; there’s three books, let alone one, and one day, maybe in five years’ time, that’ll all come out.
    * “But there’s been so many circumstances and as a manager, you want to keep a consistent shape, a consistent starting XI and if somebody bursts through that, it’s because they’ve ousted the other individual.

    The Verdict ~
This is a strange comment from Johnson given he was not willing to provide further details on the reasons behind City’s regular changes, but his words hint at the suggestion that he may be dealing with some problems behind the scenes at the club.

This guy confuses me, read the report from the link for the full conversation, are there behind the scenes problems that he is hiding away?

I'm not reading much into that.. a large squad means lots of personalities, lots of opinions, lots that think they know it all, lots not happy with being dropped for whatever reasons...........all part of the task IMO.
I imagine it goes on at most clubs......

Something definitely not right reading that link.
However we don’t need that we know there are problems _it stands out a mile.

The Wolves manager reckons 18 in a squad is more than suffice.

Tbh I reckon half Junior's problems are quantity over quality.
Keeping young very well paid men happy ain't a walk in the park, especially for a bombproof and arrogant HC.
So I wouldn't be surprised if there is some truth in the unrest rumours.

amazingly you have found an opportunity to slag him off again, yet the first part praises him for the difficulty he has to cope with in your eyes …
but the likelihood is it aint nothing to do with that anyway I guess the point put the skids under opportunity to go heave ho ……

WTF is 3 books … I can only guess at 1 being LEE'S ......… WHO HE WANTS TO PLAY …. based on his knowledge and training ground and line style.

BOOK 2..YOU can ONLY GUESS with all the departments on health COACHING welfare mental attitude and etc etc etc at AG the next book might be that player A is down on deep breath's per minute after running down the wing!! etc etc or something like that … maybe body mass / lost twice at scrabble / DIDNT EAT HIS GREENS!

BOOK 3 ... LOAN PLAYERS have to play x mins / start x times / game analysis based on what they did or didnt do …. or WTF ………...

According to someone on OTIB, LJ attacked the players in the dressing room after the Huddersfield game, thumping Bentley and swiping at the new boys.
Poor Bentley has been scared to attend BS3 since........

    ....... apparently - some believe it <laugh>

I’m not good with big egos. I’d remind them that they are young and well paid - so should bloody well justify the money being invested in them by the fans.
I wouldn’t last long as a HC but I’d tell a few home truths.

‘Treats us like fools’, ‘Mind games’ – Many Bristol City fans frustrated by latest Lee Johnson claim
    https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/t...-fans-frustrated-by-latest-lee-johnson-claim/

The LJ story we have all read, the reaction and critical comments about LJ is another story, people are finding his claims and latest comments very frustrating, something behind the scenes is not right, time will tell.

The link tells what some Bristol City faithful feel.

the 1 pt moved them closer to 6th because PNE lost!

“The way I picked the team was based on players who have been here a while and understand how we play so there were no excuses.”
what is wrong with this statement??? ......... perfectly clear IT was only part of what he said [ 3 books bit aside what he said was in order ] and fitted in with the whole interview ...
Really pi** poor reporting drumming up dregs to endeavour to get a headline and there was quite a few suckers it seems fell for that one … neatly dragged in/ scraped from barrel bottom by the "so called reporter"
besides the above he covered Bently's injury
he covered the fact the newbies were not up to speed didn't say they wernt good enough just need more time and there is a few on here that advocate the same comment 2cant expect them to just fit in … need time like the summer and the friendlies etc...

Quality don't need time to bed in they get involved straight away classic example Hogan straight in and banging the goals.

I know it's a world away, but when City were promoted in 1975/76, they used only 17 players, 10 of whom played 30 or more games during the season.

I think we all agree that keeping a settled team is the ideal situation where possible, but obviously we don't know what goes on behind the scenes!
